On this week's episode I am joined by long time listener, first time caller Mr. McCormo. This interview ended up being split into 2 parts, this is the first of the pair. We discuss the possibility of shmups fitting into an eSports format, competitiveness in the shmup scene, and I go on about my idea for revising how we currently record scores.
Also, a new nest of birds was built over where I record, and they weigh in on the conversation.
If you want to check out a more detailed explanation on my score keeping idea and the community's reaction to it, check out this thread: shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63002
Music:
1st song = Kame house, from Dragonball Wave
2nd song=Spaceflight by Efence
3rd song=Kid Goku, from Dragonball Wave
4th Song= 40's by Axian

On today's episode I am joined by Ser Flash of Studio Mudprints. Ser Flash is the creator of the famous Bullet Heaven shmup review series on YouTube. It is the longest running shmup review series on Youtube and is still going strong. On today's episode, we talk about the history behind Bullet Heaven, the challenges it has faced, the current state of shmup reviews, personal highlights, and the future of the channel.
A huge thanks to Ser Flash for being super cool and coming on the podcast!
On today's episode, I am very happy to have the opportunity to speak with the CEO of EXA Arcadia about the platform, its hardware, the arcade scene today, and how EXA could revitalize arcades on a global level. Big thanks to the CEO of EXA to take the time to talk to me, a host of a humble but passionate podcast. He definitely wins homie award of the year! After this interview I am more excited than ever about the potential of EXA and can't wait to get my hands on one.
Also, in deference to my awesome audience, I will provide a list of tracks I used in this episode:
Intro song = Canal Fleet (arranged) from Ketsui
2nd song = Stage 3A (Arranged) from DDP Ressurection
3rd song = Stage 4 (Xbox 360 Arranged) from DOJ Black Label Extra
Final song = Name Entry (Xbox 360 Arranged) from DOJ Black Label Extra
On today's episode life goes full circle where I have come from being a fan of Aquas's STG Weekly series to having him be a guest on the podcast. We talk about shmups in the arcades, the history and current stage of STG Weekly, the power of nostalgia, as well as the relationship between the shmup community and the speedrunning community.
On this week's episode my inner fanboy gets the opportunity to sit down and chat with Jaimers, a man (or possibly machine) with a cornucopia of excellent high scores and replays. Check out his twitch channel: www.twitch.tv/jaimers91 and his youtube: www.youtube.com/channel/UCOE55fDDW0iq0WlGJIHYzsA
This week I am joined by two guests, Eaglet and Plasmo! We discuss their experience at Stunfest 2018 and their Battle Garegga Demonstrations, the EXA Arcadia hardware, and everything in between. If you want details about Shmups at Stunfest, this episode is a juicy t-bone steak :-)

This week's episode I had the privilege of speaking with Cloudy Music, also known as Keres on the forums, about shmup streaming, shmup design, and widening the shmup audience. I was also inspired by this interview to upgrade my audio equipment by ordering a Blue Yeti Mic, so you can thank Cloudy for the improved audio quality of future episodes.
This week's episode I speak with EX Mosquito, a UK shmup fan who runs a badass youtube channel and owns a Sega Astro City. EX also clears up some PAL misconceptions for us in the land of NTSC. We talk groovey mame, Street Fighter II, PCB Collecting, and everything in-between.
This week's episode I talk with FRO, also known as the Gameboy Guru on Youtube, about shmup collecting, shmups on the Switch, and what it means to be a hardcore player versus being a hardcore fan
This week's episode is a unique one because it is a follow up interview. Eaglet, today's guest, was actually the 2nd person I ever interviewed for the podcast. However, during that first interview, I was not aware of his achievements in Battle Garegga, and did not learn about them till halfway through the interview. So, once the first interview was finished, I decided that I was going to do my homework and ask Eaglet back for an encore performance, which he kindly agreed to do.
I think this episode turned out really well and I highly encourage everyone out there to give it a listen. Also, the awesome cover of Fly to the Leaden Sky featured in the episode was done by Eaglet himself.
