Hummingbirds belong to the Trochilidae family. This includes very small birds with fast flight and colorful plumage that feed on nectar and small insects.They are endemic to America, they live in humid tropical forests and gardens. Together with butterflies, they fulfill the important function of pollinators.In our patio they visit several species of plants, but one of their favorites is the heliconia. It is there where I was able to make this short video with my Xiaomi Redmi 9C cell phone. Hope you like.Los colibríes pertenecen a la familia Trochilidae. Esta abarca aves muy pequeñas con vuelo rápido y plumaje colorido que se alimentan de néctar y pequeños insectos.Son endémicas de América, viven en bosques húmedos tropicales y jardines. Junto a las mariposas, cumplen la importante función de polinizadores.En nuestro patio visitan a varias especies de flores, pero una de sus favoritas son estas de heliconia. Es allí donde pude hacer este corto vídeo con mi celular Redmi 9C de Xiaomi. This species of butterfly abounds in our garden and there are months in which this behavior, that seems to be prior to mating, is observed more frequently.It is medium, about 5 centimeters in wingspan. It belongs to the Nymphalidae family and lives from Central America to Argentina. Further north, some strays have been reported.It feeds on nectar and its host plants are varied and indeterminate.Here we see them frequently in lantana plants, sphagneticola calendulacea, zinnia, fruit trees and others.Esta especie de mariposa abunda en nuestro jardín y hay meses en los que se observa con más frecuencia este comportamiento, que parece ser previo al apareamiento.Es mediana, aproximadamente de 5 centímetros de envargadura. Pertenece a la familia Nymphalidae y vive desde Centroamérica hasta Argentina. The mountain paraulata or tropical Mockingbird (Mimus gilvus) has a very beautiful song, but here most of the time we can only hear it.Unlike the llanera paraulata (Turdus nudigenis), it does not get very close to the houses, but rather comes to sing early or at sunset, keeping a certain distance.It can learn to play the song of other birds or the melody that we teach it if it is in captivity. Here I show them hoping you enjoy.La paraulata montañera o Sinsonte tropical (Mimus gilvus) tiene un canto muy bello, pero aquí la mayoría de las veces solo podemos escucharla.
A diferencia de la paraulata llanera (Turdus nudigenis), ella no se acerca mucho a las casas, sino que llega a cantar temprano o al atardecer, manteniendo cierta distancia.Puede aprender a ejecutar el canto de otras aves o la melodía que nosotros le enseñemos si se encuentra en cautiverio. Se alimenta de semillas, frutas y artrópodos.Son monógamos y, cuando anidan, ambos padres ayudan en la alimentación de los pichones, a veces también con la colaboracion de los hijos nacidos de otras nidadas.Vive en Centroamérica y norte de Sudamérica, donde se pueden encontrar 10 subespecies.Grabe este corto video con el celular, una de las pocas veces que se dejó ver cerca.
