Dr. Middleton is Professor of Biblical Worldview and Exegesis at Northeastern Seminary in Rochester, NY. He is past president of the Canadian Society of Biblical Studies (2019–2021) and the Canadian-American Theological Association (2011–2014). His most recent book is Abraham’s Silence: The Binding of Isaac, the Suffering of Job, and How to Talk Back to God (Baker Academic, 2021). We talk about the freedom and wisdom that comes from letting the Bible be what the Bible is. What is the point of Job? Does God really need all that praise? How does paleoanthropology inform our reading of scripture?
