Elevation Church

We are all moving into a new normal —ready or not. The world is opening back up a period of lockdown and it‘s imperative that we turn over our hearts to God as much as we can in this time. Because even though our plans have to change, God’s don’t. The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run into it and they are safe.

In this message, “Flex Space” preached by Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC we learn how to expand our expectations to include things we didn’t plan for. Sometimes our minds and hearts get cluttered up with expectations of our own making. We wed ourselves to what was, often prohibiting broken expectations from being transformed.

In Isaiah 54 verses 1-4, the prophet Isaiah commands the nation of Israel to sing a song of deliverance 200 years before that prophecy comes to pass. While Paul is writing the New Testament letter to the Philippians he connects those 200-year-old dots and tells the people of God — with a word he makes up (apokaradokia) — that they need to stretch their heads forward in hope. The best is yet to come.

We think we need to have strength to come through a season of struggle, but the Bible teaches us that in our weaknesses God is made strong. “Sometimes, the reason God doesn’t show up when you want Him to is because He’s planning to show off when He comes.” In other words, our weakness is God’s “Flex Space.”

We pray that even though you may have had a lot taken from you in this season, this message will help you fight back with faith. The enemy may have taken a lot, but he can’t take your song.

1 “Sing, barren woman,

you who never bore a child;

burst into song, shout for joy,

you who were never in labor;

because more are the children of the desolate woman

than of her who has a husband,”

says the Lord.

2 “Enlarge the place of your tent,

stretch your tent curtains wide,

do not hold back;

lengthen your cords,

strengthen your stakes.

3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left;

your descendants will dispossess nations

and settle in their desolate cities.

4 “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame.

Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.

You will forget the shame of your youth

and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.

FLEX 💪 SPACE | Pastor Steven Furtick | Elevation Church

In this engaging Mother’s Day message Holly Furtick, wife of Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC continues encouraging us in the theme of our recent messages, Looking Forward To Normal (http://ele.vc/Di8Ujh), A Lesson In Letting Go (http://ele.vc/B4tEKI), and Focus On The Fruit (https://youtu.be/QED4Oqd202c).

Building around the phrase Jesus uses to describe himself in John 6:28-34, “I am the bread of life,” Holly helps us confront the expectations that are holding us back in our faith. We tend to turn to Jesus when we need something, just like the people in this selection from the Bible, but we don’t want to end up like many of them did when at the end of the story their disappointment caused them to turn away from Jesus and, “follow Him no more.”

Instead, Holly Furtick encourages us that we can know Jesus as “More Than Miracles.” Yes, He has power and strength to provide us with what we need, but, “Jesus offers so much more than filling our physical needs.”

Often, we don’t want a new thing, we want God to fix the old thing. We don’t want to find good in our struggle, we want things to, “Get back to normal.” Holly Furtick is helping us understand that Jesus, the bread of life, is beside us in our loneliness, available when we need Him, and good to us in all situations. He is the bread of life — the sustaining provision we can eat and never be hungry again.

We believe that as you receive this message you will hear the voice of Jesus calling you to come to Him as He encourages you and gives you hope.

More Than Miracles | Holly Furtick | Elevation Church

Whenever we go out in this season we’re reaching for our masks and gloves to protect ourselves from an invisible virus. Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC is helping us keep our minds safe from fear, frustration, and even an unhealthy obsession with ”the facts.” He says, “We need medical masks for our minds,” so we can “Focus On The Fruit.”

Building from two key Bible passages, Philippians 1:12-22 written by the Apostle Paul while he was in prison and Romans 8:18-28 Pastor Steven is continuing with more quarantine encouragement, following messages like “Looking Forward To Normal” (http://ele.vc/Di8Ujh) and “A Lesson In Letting Go (http://ele.vc/B4tEKI).”

Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that is all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Even if we feel like we’ve been given a prison sentence in this season, we can choose to focus on the word of God, we can choose to turn graves Into gardens.

When you watch this message, you’ll learn how to shift your mind to the only thing you really can control —what you choose to focus on. You’re going to learn the power and significance of the phrase, “I don’t know.”

While the media and politicians are scrambling to find the facts and people are becoming more and more paralyzed waiting on vaccines, we can, instead, “Focus On The Fruit.” Pastor Steven Furtick says, “We are all equally ignorant about what’s next,” so we may as well focus on what’s now and expect God to meet us in the middle. “What I’m going through is nothing compared with what God is going to do through it.”

Don’t focus on your frustrations, your fears or even the facts, in this season, we need to “Focus On The Fruit.”

This message, “A Lesson In Letting Go,” by Pastor Steven Furtick, from Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC, is built on the same important perspectives as last week’s message, “Looking Forward To Normal.”

When all we’ve known is busy, rest feels like something to be resisted. When all we’ve known is bondage, blessings feel foreign. So Pastor Steven is teaching us how to say, “I’m not going back to normal, I’m looking forward to freedom,” as we all loosen our grip on the things we never had control over anyway.

In Exodus 14 we see that it took a lot to get the people of God free from what had them trapped. As we look to Romans 12 we find out that the most important lesson in letting go comes from the inside out. God doesn’t want us to conform (outside in) any longer to the pattern of this world, but instead to be transformed (inside out) by the renewing of our minds.

While many of us are trapped inside our homes, we’re also trapped inside old thought patterns, old habits of dealing with stress, old patterns of how we treat each other. We’re trapped in fear because of a volatile stock market, we’re stressed trying to homeschool our kids, trying everything we know to get back to normal. But as Pastor Steven puts it in this sermon, “Let God homeschool you right now!” After all, God says in Hebrews 12, that He is shaking off everything that can be shaken so that what cannot be shaken [The Kingdom Of God] will.

Embrace this “Lesson In Letting Go” so we can stop dwelling on what’s lost and watch Him bless what’s left.

Don’t forget to share this message with a friend and be sure to subscribe for ongoing inspiration and encouragement.

A Lesson In Letting Go | Pastor Steven Furtick | Elevation Church

Many of us are starting to fear, “We’re never going back to normal!” but should we?

Was what we used to call normal, before we landed in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, actually as great as we remember it? Weren’t we complaining two months ago about the very people and things that today we wish we could get back?

In this message, Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church uses Exodus 14 verses 10-15 and Romans 12 verses 1-2 to teach us that, “What the world calls weird, is what God calls normal.”

Breaking people out of bondage to fear, addictions, negative thought patterns, busyness or whatever, is not a new thing for God. It’s what He has been doing for people for thousands of years. God isn’t trying to “get things back to normal.” He’s calling us into a new normal.

In the midst of this crisis we can see that, “Our faith finally fits.” It is clear to everyone right now that what is unseen is most significant. We, the people of God, need to respond, not in fear, but in faith, and start Looking Forward To Normal.
