  • Handrail Sanitizer Startup Signs Hamburg Mall Contract
Welcome to the Elevator World News Podcast.
This week’s news podcast is sponsored by elevatorbooks.com: http://www.elevatorbooks.com
HANDRAIL SANITIZER STARTUP SIGNS HAMBURG MALL CONTRACT
Escalator handrail sanitizer startup UVIS UV-Innovative Solutions GmbH, headquartered in Cologne, Germany, signed a contract with property manager ECE to install four UVIS ESCALITE ultraviolet-C (UV-C)-disinfection modules on escalators in Phoenix-Center shopping mall in Hamburg, Germany, this month. Using UV-C light to destroy bacteria, viruses and fungi, the modules are indicated by large stickers on the balustrades. UVIS observed Phoenix-Center now has the first “germ-free” escalators in Germany. A post-installation survey found that 91% of shoppers said their experience was more comfortable thanks to the disinfected handrails, which also had a positive effect on the perception of safety, cleanliness and the shopping center's image.  UVIS aims to expand to other shopping malls.
