  • EP 4: EM Weekly Leadership Principles in Fiction
I had the pleasure to interview R.P. Ruggiero the Author of the Brushfire Plague series. R.P. and I discuss the ideals of leadership during the crisis using the characters in his book. R.P. Ruggiero lives in Colorado with his wife and two sons. He spends as much time as possible in the outdoors and strives to live by Robert Heinlein’s credo that, “Specialization is for insects.” When he is not outdoors, writing, or learning a new skill, he helps people achieve common goals. He brings two decades of experience in group dynamics–particularly for people under stress–to good use in writing the Brushfire Plague, a novel grounded in neighbors defending themselves during a devastating plague. Brushfire Plague: Reckoning has now been released! This is Book Two of a planned trilogy. • EP 3: EM Weekly with Titan HST
We are talking to Vic Merjanian from Titan HST about emergency mass communication. Titan HST is making some remarkable changes to the concept of disaster communications and how it is now a two way conversation. Titan HST is a comprehensive emergency alert system. The mobile application allows users, and emergency personnel to communicate emergency information instantly – increasing information dissemination and reducing emergency response time. During an alert, users can communicate relevant emergency information, including their GPS coordinates, text, audio, and pictures as well as classify the type of emergency. In addition, users have the ability to chat with administrators and emergency personnel and share lockdown notifications. Administrators and emergency personnel receive emergency alerts via a push notification, and can communicate directly with users. Links: https://www.titanhst.com

  • EM Weekly
EM Weekly was stared out as a way to expand my classroom for the EM program that I teach for. With some encouragement from my friend Brian, we decided that we wanted to share these leadership principles with the world of emergency management. Our goal is to bring you quality content every week that impacts emergency management, first responders, and disaster volunteers. EM Weekly seeks out leaders in the industry, and spotlights volunteers in disaster services. This is an inclusive podcast.

This introduction to EM Weekly is just that, an introduction to the program. We are building a community of individuals that are here to help each other be the best at our job that we can be. We have a resources page, the book club page, the Volunteer Spotlight, and more.

We have brought in experts in communications, technology, leadership, and emergency management. We also have authors and keynote speakers. This podcast is everything in emergency management, public safety, and disaster volunteers.

I know that you will enjoy this podcast and the E-magazine that we are producing. Thank you so much for being part of this community and help grow. I’m looking forward to hearing from you and please let me know what you think about this podcast and future podcasts that EM Weekly will be producing.
