It's that time of year, when everyone and their mom is sharing up ways to ring in the new year, so a handful of people have asked me how I like to do it. My answers are in today's podcast episode.
Today on the podcast Jessi Kneeland and I get into the many ways people choose their mentors, a behind-the-scenes view at fitness in the media, and recognizing avoidance as fear.
About Jessi Kneeland:
Jessi Kneeland is a certified personal trainer, fitness expert, and blogger. She's a NYC dweller, a lover of Scotch on the rocks, and she believes in the magic of birthdays and full moons. She rhymes often, she prefers savory to sweet, and she can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon than reading good fiction in the sunshine.
Jessi is tough, and sarcastic, and she's afraid of elevator doors. She loves deadlifting because it makes her feel like one of those little anime characters who power-up and then BURST into space! She loves sprinting because it makes her feel like a cheetah. She uses a lot of imagery, she's a feminist, and she cries so easily it's embarrassing.
Jessi is the creator of Remodel Fitness because it is her deepest wish that she may be able to help women everywhere harness the inherent power that they either don't know is inside of them, or don't feel they deserve to tap into.
It is incredibly empowering to put in the work and then actually see and feel the results in your body. It's rewarding and astonishing to realize that you are stronger and better this week than you were last week. She uses fitness to encourage a strong sense of self-worth, and foster body-positivity and self-acceptance along the way. She wants to help you achieve the body you deserve, while loving the body you have. She wants to create an army of women who feel empowered through fitness to dream bigger and live triumphantly, because she believes our world needs you.
In this episode, Jessi shares:

Today's Question: "I would love an "Ask Elizabeth" episode to be something along the lines of "What do you do when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed/let a conversation go somewhere you don't want it to/become overwhelmed with self doubt and/or the need for external validation?
I think those of us who work with you or just read your stuff harbor a somewhat delusional fantasy that you have managed to find a way to suppress all of these destructive feelings, when in reality, I suspect that your humanity gets the best of you sometimes and you don't cope as well as you might."

I've known Justine for years and anytime I get to read her blog, hear her speak or have a conversation with her feels like mind-expanding delight. She's a deep thinker and provocative creator - listen closely to this one!
About Justine Musk:
Justine Musk writes about creativity, culture and self-discovery. I met Justine back in 2011 when we were in a mastermind together with Marie Forleo and just like her written word, her spoken words of feedback, creativity and ideas always blew me away. Observing, celebrating and performing rituals for Full and New moons is something I've been doing since 2013. I rarely miss a moon and these practices have allowed me to connect more deeply to myself, to nature, to the natural rhythms of my body and the cosmos. Women ask me all the time what specifically I do for these, in this podcast episode I share what I've learned, what I love to practice, and my favorite resources to help develop your own practices.

Today on the podcast Lisa Lister and I get into your menstrual cycle as a power source, using rituals to reclaim your power, and the connection between fertility and body love. I effing love this woman, we connected last Fall when she took Wild Soul Movement and I have referred her book, Code Red over and over again to women wanting to connect with their bodies and embrace their natural rhythm.
