Series: EMBRACE WEIRD: Reclaim the Genius of the First Christians from First Peter
Date: 8 February 2026
Preacher: Rev Dave Miers
Scripture: 1 Peter 1:13-2:3
--
Christian hope, rooted in Christ's resurrection, transforms every aspect of life. Drawing from 1 Peter 1:13-2:3, Christianity isn't about rule-keeping to earn God's favour, but responding to his grace with changed lives. A key biblical principle emerges: indicatives (what God has done) always precede imperatives (what we should do). Christians are called to embrace being "weird"—different from the world—not as a problem but as their greatest opportunity. Like the early Christians who thrived in hostile pagan cultures, believers today live as elect exiles whose hope in Christ leads to holiness, worship, love, and maturity.
--
Our dream is to be a city of refuge within the city of Brisbane, where many people have found refuge, security, and hope in Christ.
