The Model Tongue

Embracing the Authentic You - with Ivory

Listen Later

Hey everyone!

My name is Karyn Inder and welcome to The Model Tongue Podcast. A podcast where we discuss all things mental health, mental illness, body positivity, self worth and the importance of finding your voice.

Today I am honoured to speak with Ivory. Ivory is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist who’s light shines brightly whether she’s on stage or on your instagram feed. She is a Singer, Dancer, Actor, Model and Body Positive Advocate... as well as an Archer, Axe Thrower and Fire Breather. Since being crowned Miss Canada Plus 2007, Ivory has continued her activism as a Plus Sized Entertainer and Advocate for over 10 years, pushing for change with her intersectional feminism, body positivity, queer advocacy and outspoken message of love at all costs. As a queer, plus sized woman of colour living (nay, thriving) despite chronic pain, Ivory believes in defying the odds, dispelling stereotypes and proving that nothing is impossible to a willing heart.

Today, Ivory and I talk about self love, acceptance, accessible health care and shed light on what it’s like living with chronic pain and invisible disabilities. She gives incredible advice, I am very excited for you to hear her story.
