Tranquil Awakenings

Emerging from Spiritual Emergency with Sunshine Grace

Listen Later

In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Sunshine Grace who is a clairaudient spiritual medium and mental health ally whose journey began after what the West might call a “psychotic break” – but what she now understands was a spiritual emergency.

During this episode Sunshine discusses what it was like to go from being an atheist to becoming a voice hearer over night and how this has led her on a journey to become a mental health and wellness advocate who is passionate about helping others by normalising psychic abilities. Sunshine now speaks on a global stage to help raise awareness in this area, using her voice to support her with this mission.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When spiritual awakening happens suddenly it can cause overwhelm and confusion, sometimes leading to spiritual emergency.
  • It is still taboo in some areas of society to talk about hearing voices, therefore, it is important that spiritual mediums have places to talk about their gifts in a non-judgemental and compassionate way.
  • People receive spiritual messages in different ways, clairaudience being one of these.
  • The Universe and Spirit present us with lessons for learning and growth.
  • People, animals and those in spirit can help us on our spiritual and healing journey.

BEST MOMENTS

·       “I was an atheist my entire life, okay? And three and a half years ago, in the middle of my first Ayahuasca ceremony retreat, I started hearing a voice.”

  • “ It was like a million pins stuck in my body and they were vibrating. And, and I tried to connect to my body and ground and breathe. Nothing was working. And this hatch felt like it had opened up to the heavens. And I remember trying all these things, trying to close that damn hatch because that's what felt like it was causing this intense feeling in my body. Anybody who's had a kundalini awakening can probably relate to this. And I couldn't close the hatch. And ever since then, I've been a medium.”
  •  "It was embarrassing because I still have wounds as someone who went from being an atheist to a voice hearer overnight. And in a culture that stigmatises voice hearing, I have these wounds over people not believing me.”
  • "And spirit reminded me of that and then said there was this moment on stage where you had this fork in the road. This is me summarizing spirit. Doesn't sound like this exact, but there was this moment where you had this fork in the road. You're standing there on stage, you're feeling unsupported, you're frustrated, you feel alone. And you could have kept your mask on and separated yourself from the audience and pretend like you had your stuff together, but you didn't. You went the right way. You asked for help you, you spoke the truth, and that is the kind of integrity that you need as a medium, to speak, absolutely speak the truth. No matter what's happening.”
  •  "I had to like, blow the top off of all of this and come out and just say, look, y'all, I'm a medium and I wanna meet other mediums, because that's how we normalise it.”
