It was approaching 4.00am when a train pulled into Korsor station on the island of Zealand in Denmark. 17 year old Emilie Meng and her friends had been on a night out in a neighbouring town to celebrate the end of their 2016 summer exams. The two friends got into a taxi but Emilie decided to walk the short distance from the station back to her home. She never made it back and for the next six months her disappearance gripped the nation, with dozens of sightings of her across Europe. This story was not to have a happy ending and on Christmas Eve the family’s worst fears were confirmed and a murder investigation was begun.
