"Today, The Alt-Country Show premieres the scenic, DIY music video for "Parkway Bound." The song can be found on North Carolina artist, Shay Martin Lovette's sophomore release, Scatter & Gather. The album dropped on May 14th and is produced by Joseph Terrell of Mipso. Beautiful arrangements showcase Lovette's crisp vocals and punctuate his songwriting.

Lovette tells us a little bit about the making of the video, recording "Parkway Bound" for the album, and Scatter & Gather as a whole.
On the idea behind the video:
"I’m super excited to share this video, especially because it was a 100% DIY affair and the footage was captured on iPhones. My partner, Julianna Liegel captured most of the footage and Joseph Terrell, Gabe Anderson, and I filmed the rest. Gabe Anderson also edited the video. The idea for this video was pretty straight forward. “Parkway Bound” was written around the concept of someone leaving their troubles behind and escaping to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I am lucky enough to live less than a mile from the parkway, and have spent countless hours enjoying the mountains, trails, and creeks that can be found in the region so it felt natural to give the video a sort of “day in the life” type vibe. My good friend, Joseph Terrell (Mipso) who produced Scatter & Gather, drove his Jeep Comanche to Boone, North Carolina (where I’m based) and we hit the Blue Ridge Parkway for a full day of cruising to different scenic overlooks, rambling down trails, eating biscuits, and rock hopping to various waterfalls in the area. By the end of the day we were exhausted but as we watched the sun disappear behind the Blue Ridge Mountains we were thankful for the journey."
On the making of the song with Joseph:
"'Parkway Bound' was recorded live at the Rubber Room Studio in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with my dream string band accompanying me and taking this tune to a beautifully folky place. Joseph Terrell (Mipso) sang harmony vocals, Aaron Ballance played Dobro, Libby Rodenbough (Mipso) played Fiddle, Andrew Marlin (Watchhouse) played mandolin, and Wood Robinson (Mipso) played upright bass. We only played the song twice and the second take was the keeper!"
On the album:
"Scatter & Gather is a collection of songs that I wrote on acoustic guitar at home in Boone, North Carolina and then fleshed out in the studio with members of Mipso, my band, and some very talented special guests like Andrew Marlin (Watchhouse). I had so much fun in the studio kicking ideas around with Joseph Terrell until each song got to a place that we both could be excited about. Joseph and I both have backgrounds in roots music but embrace the idea of experimenting with those roots so it was our goal to let both aspects shine through on this album."
