This week, pastor Don looks at the continued wilderness journey of God's children and their complaints as they wander. Despite God's provision in many ways, they complain, they disobey and fail to see the lessons that God has for them. Is it possible that we too, as God's children today, fail to see God's provision for us, are ungrateful and hard hearted?

This week, pastor Don focuses on a song that is recorded for us in chapter 15 of Exodus. This song tells not only of the deliverance God wrought for His people in bringing them out of Egypt, but of a future deliverance He would work for them over their enemies. We too, as believers, have much to thank God for as He has brought us out of captivity from sin. When God's Word dwells in us richly, there will be cause for singing.

This week, pastor Don looks at the account of the crossing of the Red Sea by the Israelites. He considers the freedom of God's people, bought for them at great cost, not by Moses, or the people themselves, but by God. We look forward in time to when Jesus, our Great High Priest, would also pay a great price, His life, to deliver us from the judgment of God.

Pastor Don looks at 3 areas in the chapter, which can also be traced right throughout Scripture as we think of God's deliverance of His people from sin.

3. What does God achieve?

This week, pastor Don looks at the doctrine of redemption as portrayed in Exodus 13. We see a vivid picture of how God commanded the firstborn male to be bought back. This picture is of course fulfilled in the New Testament as we see Jesus paying the price for our redemption as those needing to be bought back (redeemed from sin) so we could have the relationship with God restored. We see, not just a God who brought His people out of Egypt, but a God who wants to take Egypt out of His people.

Looking at the evidence that Jesus was in the details and events of the story of Exodus.

This week, our children's ministry intern, Denver Janz, looks at the question posed by onlookers in Jerusalem as Jesus entered on what has become known as 'Palm Sunday'. The challenge goes out to us today as we consider who Jesus is also.

This week, pastor Don looks at the reason God sent the plagues to Egypt. He also considers the words of Exodus 10:1-2, where The Lord tells Moses the purpose of the hardening of Pharaoh's heart. Ultimately, it is that God's children (and us today) may know that there is only One True and Living God, and the gods that are invented by human minds are no gods at all.

This week, pastor Don tackles one of the trickiest subject to wrap our minds around, that of God's sovereignty, His freedom to elect whom He chooses and the place of man's free-will and responsibility in the midst of it all. As well as looking at Exodus 9 where we see the hardening of Pharaoh's heart become something God does, we take a look at how Paul deals with the same subject in Romans 9.

This week, pastor Don looks at some more of the plagues and reminds us that they are in groups of 3. Last time, we saw how the magicians of the Pharaoh were able to duplicate the first few plagues, but this time they seem powerless to do so. Not only that, but as the plagues progress, not only are the magicians unable to replicate the plagues, but they are powerless to prevent them affecting themselves. God is revealing His sovereignty and the impotence of all others who would try to set themselves up as gods, who are in fact no gods. 

Pastor Don reminds us of the trap that many of us today can fall into. That of thinking the modern day equivalent of the gods of Egypt (money, possessions, beauty, the stock market, a good career etc.) are any more powerful to save us when it really matters.

We are also reminded that the salvation that Jesus Christ purchased for us on the cross was not only a deliverance from the penalty of sin, but deliverance from the bondage to that sin in our daily lives.
