  • "The Fifth Commandment: Protecting Human Life!" Genesis 50:15-21
The Lutheran Confessions Responsive Reading: Luther’s Small Catechism
P: As the head of the family should teach them in a simple way to his household. What is The Fifth Commandment
    C: You shall not murder.
    P: What does this mean?
C: We should fear and love God so that we do not hurt or harm our neighbor in his body,
but help and support him in every physical need.
P: How does this Commandment apply to those who refuse to speak up in defense of human life (Large Catechism)?
C: It also applies to anyone who can do his neighbor good, prevent or resist evil, defend, and save his neighbor so that no bodily harm or hurt happen to him—yet does not do this [James 2:15–16].... if you see anyone innocently sentenced to death or in similar distress, and do not save him, although you know ways and means to do so, you have killed him. It will not work for you to make the excuse that you did not provide any help, counsel, or aid to harm him. For you have withheld your love from him and deprived him of the benefit by which his life would have been saved.
P: How Does Jesus explain the Fifth Commandment?
C: “But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will have to answer for it in court. Anyone who calls his brother a ‘numbskull’ will have to answer for it before the highest court. Anyone who calls him a ‘fool’ will have to answer for it in hellfire.” (Matthew 5:22 GWN)
P: What is the summary of commandments 4-10 (Second Table)?
C: ""And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"Mat 22:39

  • "The First Commandment: The Only True God!" (Isaiah 6:1-7)
    Who Is Your God?
    Luther’s Small Catechism
P: As the head of the family should teach them in a simple way to his household.
P: What is The First Article of the Apostles’ Creed?
C: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
    P: What does this mean?
I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, my reason and all my senses, and still takes care of them.
He also gives me clothing and shoes, food and drink, house and home, wife and children, land, animals, and all I have. He richly and daily provides me with all that I need to support this body and life. He defends me against all danger and guards and protects me from all evil.
All this He does only out of fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me. For all this it is my duty to thank and praise, serve and obey Him. This is most certainly true.
P: What is the First Commandment
C: You shall have no other gods.
    P: What does this mean?
C: We should fear, love and trust in God above all things.
P: What is the Introduction to the Lord’s Prayer?
C: Our Father who art in heaven.
    P: What does this mean?
C: With these words God tenderly invites us to believe that He is our true Father and that we are His true children, so that with all boldness and confidence we may ask Him as dear children ask their dear father.
P: Which is the great commandment in the law?"
C: " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' "This is the first and great commandment."Matthew 22:37-38
