Because Christ's church is a congregation or assembly, we have the duty and obligation to join the church, submit to its doctrine and discipline, and use our gifts for the well being of all. For this Christ died.

The reaction to the raising of Lazarus was illuminating. The crowds were divided between those who believed and those who did not, even though they saw a great miracle. The Jewish leaders reacted by dtermining to kill Jesus for fear he would lead a revolt that Rome would crush along with the whole nation. They agreed that one should die to save the many, which was God's plan also but God was not concerned with a political salvation.
