Cute Story About Easter Traditions

It's a nice story, and I love that the family is biracial (without any commentary on that fact). I've purposely been trying to buy more diverse books for my kids, so I like that.

Covers all the bases

This book went through everything that had to do with - from hunting for eggs to going to church. It is multi- racial and cultural. It gives general explanations for the events.

Excellent Overview of American Easter

This book really personifies the Christian American Easter experience. A family dyes eggs, has Easter baskets, hunts the eggs, goes to church, and has family over for a big meal. I love that it's an effortlessly multicultural family (white mom, black dad, Russian-descent grandma). I also really like the brief descriptions of what Christians believe about Jesus - it's not a book about religion; it presents religion as very normal and the reason for celebration while offering a picture of a day when non-Christians celebrate too. The text is very simple, simple enough for my 2-year-old, but it has optional-read factoids on each page for older kids also. Finally, from a phonetics perspective it's nice to have a book where E makes two sounds next to each other.
