On our Emmaus 90 journey, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24, we’re learning to recognize Jesus walking with us, interpreting the Scriptures, and in the breaking of the bread. This year, we’re focusing on growing as disciples who strive to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus does. Our formation sessions help us to grow in the heart and habits of a disciple, which are summarized in the Anatomy of a Catholic Disciple Picture on p. 13 of your Guidebook.
And we’re starting with the Heart - how do we grow in heart-to-heart relationship with Jesus and invite him to be at the heart, or the center, of our lives.
Bishop Donald Hying helps us journey into deeper Heart to Heart Relationship with Jesus by reflecting on the Good News Jesus proclaimed and sent his first disciples to share - that is - the gospel, or in Greek, the Kerygma.
Bishop Hying is from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, currently serving as the Bishop of the Diocese of Madison.
Questions for your Pilgrim Group:
- What’s it like for you to hear the gospel message anew today?
- What does the Gospel mean for you and your relationship with God?
- How will you respond to God’s invitation this week? How might you commit or recommit your life to Jesus?
Emmaus 90 is a 90-day New Years to Easter journey for those seeking a closer relationship with Jesus. This year, we’re focusing on growing as disciples who strive to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus does.
