Earlier in Mark 7, Jesus is accused of being unclean. Jesus, responded by showing that it is what comes out of the mouth that makes a person unclean. So, our sermon text shows us what comes out of Jesus mouth: deliverance, healing, and provision - restoring and remaking unclean people into his family! Jesus' words are not just pure, they make everything better!

In this sermon we explore the uncomfortable reality that we have expectations of Jesus that are too low. And our low expectations are rooted in our hard hearts that just do not know him very well. But, we see Jesus invite us to see him, to know him, and he is postured to heal our hearts that we would joyfully rest in the hope of his Kingdom.

Jesus is rejected, the Apostles will be rejected, John the Baptist was rejected and executed - in this sermon we explore how rejection is not an accident but a feature of the Kingdom of God - we see that it is through the experience of rejection that God's Kingdom comes bringing restoration, joy, and new creation. If you, like us, fear rejection and struggle to not be paralyzed by it, see that there is hope for us in this passage!

This a mountain of a text and we attempt to mine that mountain to see the authority and power of Jesus as he brings new creation to storms, demons, and death to cause us to rejoice before him with great trembling. We find that the Kingdom of God brings life, hope, cleansing, and so much more.

Mark shows us that Jesus' kingdom is not like an exclusive, hidden, nighclub down a dark alley that only a few will encounter. Rather, the Kingdom of God is coming small but will be all consuming and take over the cosmos. Jesus is showing that he is on his way to rule the world!

Mark transitions to Jesus' teaching ministry and hones in on the parables of Jesus. This week we look at the Parable of the Sower and take hope in God as the farmer who plows up our hard hearts that we might intimately engage with him in his Kingdom!

What is the purpose of the Spiritual Gifts? And why are we commanded to "earnestly desire" them? We cover these questions and more as we celebrate Pentecost together.

As Jesus establishes his Kingdom in the world, demonstrating his power to heal and beat back the rule of Satan it causes a reaction. This passage gives us the medicine we need to trust Jesus, and avoid the kinds of allergic reactions to his Kingdom we see in this text.

In this sermon we explore the transition from Jesus doing the work of the Kingdom to him granting authority and power to his people to help him establish the Kingdom in the world. We find here, the exciting truth that God has chosen to use us as the means to bring about his Kingdom on Earth by giving us a role and place in his Kingdom!

In this sermon, we explore the incompatibility of the Kingdom of God with the traditions and values of corrupt human culture. Jesus shows us the kind of culture and the kind of values that constitute his Kingdom, and hence the culture we strive to imbibe at Emmaus Church.
