Sermon Scripture: Matt. 13:1-9, 18-23
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (The Message)
Following the Way of Jesus is not about behavioral control, rather, it is about diving head first into renewed purpose and perspective of God’s work through us through life lived in partnership with the Holy Spirit.
Sermon Scripture: Matthew 9:18-34
Learning about who Jesus healed can tell us more about the Kingdom of God than can speculating about how or what Jesus did. Jesus’ miracles are surrounded by many myths and meanings, and it’s important to distinguish between the two if we wish to be among the community of faith that follows Jesus through these difficult days.
Sermon Scripture: Matthew 9:9-17
If we are to be followers of the Way of Jesus, then we must be willing to do as Jesus did. This means seeking out the stigmatized and abrasive among us in order to share love and mercy. We must also be quick to leave behind our own sin and boldly invite others to the table of grace that we have found.
Sermon Scripture: Matthew 9:1-8
Jesus heals a paralyzed man, overturning the Jewish notion of sin and forgiveness. We are challenged to accept the authority of Jesus and to model our lives and ministry as agents of forgiveness.
Sermon Scriptures: Matthew 8:23-34, Hebrews 11
Consistently throughout his ministry Jesus challenged those around him in regards to their faith. Either encouraging them to strengthen their faith or questioning them regarding their lack of faith. Join us as we consider what it means to have faith that shapes and guides our lives — especially in our modern, empirical society.
Sermon Scripture: Matthew 8:18-22
Together we will examine the drastic statements of Jesus in this Scripture and consider how we embody the love of Jesus in the world as disciples of Jesus.
Sermon Scriptures: Matthew 8:1-11,13

In the accounts of healing of the leper and the Roman Centurion’s servant we see the authority, compassion, and restoration of Jesus. Likewise, we see the power of faith to lead and guide our lives. As we ponder these things we will seek to allow the Holy Spirit to form us into followers of the Way of Jesus in our lives.
Sermon Scriptures: Matthew 7:24-29
Jesus intends that we structure our lives upon his teaching and his demonstrated life. This is to become the firm foundation by which we thrive and weather the storms of life.
We all have schedules, habits, rhythms, and routines in our lives, but do they match up with the teaching and life of Jesus? Let us consider how we can begin implementing the teaching and example of Jesus into the routines and rhythms of our own lives in tangible ways by developing a Rule of Life — a historical model by which we schedule a set of practices and relational rhythms that help us create space in our busy world to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what he did.

Sermon Scriptures: Matt 7:13-23
As we draw to the close of the Sermon on the Mount, the call to action Jesus is proving us is to live as the Kingdom of Heaven citizens he has been describing. Here he shares three parting warnings for those who will take up his journey.
1. Take the Scenic Route, Not the Highway
2. You Can’t Always Trust the Signs
3. Don’t Just be a Passenger
Sermon Scriptures: Matt. 7:1-5
What does the Scripture mean when it tells us to ask, seek, and knock in prayer? Join us as we consider how prayer is cooperative - where we partner with God and commune with God. Prayer is a way to join God’s Kingdom work in the world and embody the message of the Sermon on the Mount.
