Preaching form John 8:1-11, Pastor Andy Lucas, challenges us with the power of Jesus' Word to break both personal sin and corporate sin. May we avoid the crowd mentality to blaming the accused in our society, and may we rather walk in the love and power of forgiveness that is offered in Christ.

May we renew way we think about the life and Gospel of Jesus. May we see its truth and potential with fresh eyes, unburdened by dust and grime of familiarity and false assumptions. May we receive anew its renewal and restoration in our lives and in our community. May we boldly become ambassadors of its authority, sharing it freely with all to whom the Spirit leads us. May we share it with authority, truth, creativity, flair, and in many diverse ways.

Beginning a series on prayer, Pastor Andy Lucas helps us consider the purpose of prayer. When then disciples asked Jesus how to pray in Luke 11, he gave them a prayer. He didn't give them a theory about prayer or an empty euphemism like, "Just talk to God." He gave them a prayer that he intended for them to pray. This prayer would help form them as disciples. "The primary purpose of prayer is not to get God to do what you think God ought to do, but to be properly formed." -Brian Zahnd.
