Charlotte, Charlie and Millie revisit the hugely important topic of emotional wellbeing, exploring the often unseen emotional labour that Nannies carry every day.
They discuss the importance of knowing and enforcing boundaries, particularly when overtime feels financially tempting but ultimately leads to burnout if rest is neglected.
The conversation looks at what self-care realistically means in a Nanny’s day and how difficult it can be to switch off from the constant mental load of the role. They also question how much advice we can — or should — give fellow Nannies when we see their work-life balance slipping, and why so many of us place such high expectations on ourselves.
The episode highlights the vital role of support networks and ends with a reminder that Nannies need to show themselves more kindness and learn how to let go of the pressure they carry.
Charlotte’s DMs
I have been asked to go on holiday with my Nanny family. I don’t usually do this. I have asked them to compensate me for the time away from my home and from my family and they have said no. I don’t know what to do, I love my job, but I see this as quite disrespectful of my time.
