Going in a little different direction for episode 2 of this new season! It's still winter, and so I decided to pick one of my favorite winter albums: In the Nightside Eclipse by Norwegian black metal giants Emperor. 

Joining me to talk about this beautiful album is my friend, black metal fan, and former record store co-worker, Matt Kramer. We talk about the reasons this album stands out from its peers, the black metal image, Tolkien and his inspiration on this album, and more. 

Combining beautiful symphonic and atmospheric sounds with harsh, cold, black metal music, In the Nightside Eclipse moved black metal to new heights and inspired hundreds, if not thousands, of new artists to do the same.
