What if the reason you feel behind… isn’t because you are behind? What if it’s because you’re running a race you never chose?
Welcome to Episode Three of Becoming Her.
Today, I’m talking to the woman who is smart, capable, and high performing… and still goes to bed thinking, “I should be further by now.” From the outside, you look successful. People trust you. They depend on you. They praise you. But inside, the bar keeps moving. The win never feels like a win for long. And no matter what you achieve, there’s that quiet voice asking, “What’s next?”
In this episode, we’re going to unpack where that voice comes from. We’ll talk about why your brain focuses on gaps instead of growth. Why do you minimize your wins? Why rest can feel uncomfortable. The one shift that separates proving your worth from actually owning it. There’s a question I ask my clients that usually stops them in their tracks, and when you hear it, it might do the same for you.
As you listen, you’ll probably feel seen. Maybe a little called out. Maybe even relieved. You’ll start to understand why feeling “not enough” isn’t weakness, it’s a pattern. And patterns can change. You’ll learn how to measure yourself differently, how to quiet that moving finish line, and how to build confidence that isn’t tied to constant performance.
Here’s something simple to try after this episode. When you complete something today, big or small, pause and ask yourself:
“What did this require of me?”
Not “Was it perfect?” Not “Was it better than hers?”
Just what did it require? Courage? Focus? Patience? Emotional control?
This practice is rooted in cognitive behavioral techniques that help retrain the brain to notice effort and growth instead of only scanning for mistakes. Over time, it rewires how you see yourself.
If any part of this already feels familiar, this episode is going to hit home. And near the end, I share one shift that changes how you see your value, especially if your identity has been tied to achievement for years.
Go listen to this episode. You might realize you were never behind in the first place.
Remember, you have full control of the wheel.
With lots of love,
Nancy
