You can know you’re called and still hear a voice inside you asking:
Who am I to do this?
That was one of the things that struck me most after spending several days with 26 incredible women at the Women Speakers Collective Bootcamp in Indianapolis. These were gifted, accomplished women with clear callings, and yet self-doubt still showed up.
In this episode of Empowered to Lead, I’m sharing three lessons I brought home from those two days:
If you’ve been waiting to feel more confident, more certain, or more ready before taking your next step, this conversation is for you.
You may not need more confidence before you move forward. You may need a different understanding of what it means to grow into your calling.

What if becoming a more powerful communicator isn’t just about finding better words?
Your posture, movement, breath, gestures—even the amount of space you allow yourself to take up—are communicating something too. And sometimes, without realizing it, your body may be sending a very different message than your words.
In this episode, I’m talking with communications coach and Certified Movement Analyst Kristi Bramlett about what it means to communicate with your whole self—mind, body, and soul.
We talk about why women sometimes unconsciously make themselves smaller, how to develop confidence without becoming performative, why great communicators practice their message on their feet, and how understanding your natural communication style can help you connect more deeply with the people you lead.
If you preach, teach, lead meetings, speak from a stage—or simply want your presence to match the message you’re carrying—this conversation will change the way you think about communication.

Have you ever felt like leadership sometimes seems to require something different from women than it does from men?
A recent Harvard Business Review article looking back over 60 years of research reveals something striking: men and women are increasingly experiencing the same leadership cultures very differently. And that matters for women who lead in churches and Christian organizations too.
In this episode of Empowered to Lead, Jeannette explores the leadership double standards women often feel but the men around them may genuinely not see.
This isn’t about blaming men or assuming every obstacle is sexism. It’s about learning to see your leadership context clearly without becoming cynical, staying teachable without internalizing every setback, and recognizing the agency God has given you to advocate, ask better questions, and keep developing your gifts.
If you’ve ever wondered, Am I imagining this? Am I being too sensitive? Or is something else going on here? this episode will give you language, perspective, and a way forward.

Struggling to find enough volunteers or watching the same faithful few carry more and more of the load?
It may be tempting to assume people just don’t want to serve like they used to. But the research tells a more interesting story: people are still willing to contribute, but how they want to serve is changing. In this episode, Jeannette shares five leadership shifts that can help you attract, engage, and retain volunteers without resorting to guilt, desperation, or constantly filling empty slots.
Because the goal isn’t simply to get more volunteers. It’s to develop people, steward their gifts well, and create a ministry culture where they can contribute, grow and belong.

As leaders we are often the ones holding everything together, carrying pressure, uncertainty, and the quiet fear that if we don’t fix it, everything could fall apart.
In this episode, Jeannette talks honestly about the exhausting weight of trying to control outcomes, why so many faithful leaders get stuck in anxiety and over-responsibility, and how to release what was never yours to carry in the first place. If you’ve been lying awake replaying conversations, managing other’s reactions, or wondering whether one hard outcome says something about your worth, this conversation is for you.

What if the dream God gave you does not need more striving, it needs better support?
In this episode, Jeannette talks with Hermela Felten, Founder and CEO of Feltech Digital Solutions, about what becomes possible when women stop carrying everything in their heads and start building systems that support their life, leadership, creativity, and calling.
They talk about productivity, motherhood, entrepreneurship, money, generosity, and why stewarding your time and finances well is not separate from your faith, it is part of faithful leadership.
Hermela reminds us: you can do anything you dream, but you cannot do everything at once.
If you are a busy Christian woman leader with big vision and a full life, this conversation will help you breathe, rethink what support looks like, and take one practical step toward building a life that can hold your calling.

In this episode, Jeannette responds to the recent Southern Baptist Convention vote to further restrict women from pastoral roles and preaching in gathered congregations — and asks a deeper question: Where does spiritual authority actually come from?
Is authority something granted by a title, office, denomination, or male-only leadership structure? Or is spiritual authority rooted in Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and expressed through humble service, gifting, wisdom, and fruit?
Jeannette walks through the New Testament witness of women like Phoebe, Priscilla, Lydia, and Nympha. Women who taught, led, hosted churches, planted communities, and helped build up the body of Christ.
If you have ever been told your gifts are welcome only behind the scenes, or that your call to preach, teach, pastor, or lead is “grasping for power,” this episode is for you.

What if the Bible never actually said what you were taught about women?
Many Christian women have been told that Genesis establishes male authority, that Adam was created first, Eve was made to support him, and God’s design is for women to live under male leadership.
But what if those ideas were not drawn out of the text… but read into it?
In this episode, Jeannette goes back to the beginning, Genesis 1–3 to examine what Scripture actually says about women, men, authority, calling, and God’s original design. With warmth, clarity, and theological insight, she unpacks three common distortions often used to limit women’s leadership and shows why they do not hold up when we read the text carefully.
You’ll learn why creation order does not establish male authority, what the Hebrew phrase ezer kenegdo really means, and why “he will rule over you” is a description of sin’s damage, not God’s design.
If you’ve ever struggled to trust your calling, felt pressure to shrink your dreams, or wondered whether your leadership is fully affirmed by God, this conversation will help you return to the beginning and see yourself through the truth of Scripture: not secondary, not subordinate, but essential to God’s good creation.

Can you really trust your heart or is it “deceitful above all things” like you may have been taught?
In this episode, Jeannette explores what the Bible actually says about the heart, discernment, and the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding your decisions. If you’re a Christian woman leader who has ever struggled to trust your intuition, second-guessed your calling, or felt pressure to defer to external authority, this conversation will feel both grounding and freeing.
Jeannette unpacks the context of Jeremiah 17:9 and examines how that verse has often been misapplied to silence women’s inner knowing and looks at what Scripture really teaches about Spirit-led wisdom.
You’ll learn:
Leadership starts with leading yourself. And self-leadership requires learning how to quiet the noise, invite God into your inner world, and listen for His voice within.
If you’re navigating a hard decision, questioning your direction, or longing for clarity about your calling, this episode will help you cultivate Spirit-led discernment with confidence and peace.

If you’ve ever wondered what your team is really thinking or felt hesitant to ask because you don’t want to hear criticism, this episode is for you. Jeannette talks about why feedback matters, what’s at stake when leaders aren’t getting honest input, and why critical feedback can trigger shame or defensiveness (even for seasoned leaders).
If you’ve ever swung between shame (“Maybe I’m not cut out for this”) and blame (“They don’t understand what I’m carrying”), this episode will help you step off that exhausting pendulum. You’ll learn why feedback is a leadership growth accelerator, why getting honest feedback often decreases as your authority increases, and how to create a culture where truth-telling is safe and growth is normal.
