Zechariah prophecies that "Behold, your king is coming to you". Imagine the hope and heartfelt confidence that would give a people who had recently been subjected to foreign kings and people conquering them.

Jeremiah 33:14-18 is a prophecy given to the people of Israel in captivity in Babylon. In their time of despair and defeat is a reminder of God's promise for the future. He will do his mighty work of redemption.

Isaiah 53:1-6 is the passage we go to especially on Good Friday when we think of Christ's arrest and death and why it came about in the way that it did. At the time of Jesus no one thought the Promised One would be a Suffering Servant; but Jesus was the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy. He was crushed for our iniquity.

In Isaiah 42:1-9 we have the first of what are called "Servant Songs". These songs designates the Servants task, his approach and his success. He is God's chosen one, and God delights in him. He will accomplish his mission. And we worship him today.
