Pastor Travis continues teaching through the book of Luke. This week we are in Luke 4:31-41 as Jesus heals the people with authority and compassion.

Proverbs 25:27 (and 27:2) teach us about the ambition most humans have to gain the attention and applause of others. The caution in the Proverb is to not seek this sweetness and our question today is Why. Why not court the applause of others by "tooting your own horn"?

Proverbs 25:26 paints a picture of a great loss to a community when "the righteous" give way before "the wicked". The loss is this: A good source of pure drinkable water becomes polluted and muddied.

What do you do when someone you depend on is constantly looking for a fight? In Proverbs 25:24 it's pictured (as is typical in Proverbs) as a husband who has a quarrelsome wife; but the opposite genders is easily imagined. What do you do with such a person?

Proverbs 25:23 shows how anger is produced when someone is gossiped about by "hidden" tongues. What should a community do when this kind of sin begins?
