Proverbs 24:10-12 is a strong instruction to those who might want to "by-stand" while others are being abused or "by-stand" when someone is foolishly stumbling into grave trouble. What does God want us to do in the face of such adversity?

Monday morning’s devotional comes from Acts 9 and the conversion of the Saul of Tarsus, a Pharisee. It is the first in a series of three about the Apostle Paul.

Proverbs 24:7-9 indicates that there is a subset of people who desire NOT to build up their community, group, family or team, instead glory in plotting the opposite. They are fools who become schemers, who become scoffers: a great curse on the group.

Luke wants his friend to know for certainty the facts and information about Jesus. Luke found certainty for himself and he wants it for his friend, and you as well. It is with this passion Luke writes his gospel account. He wants us to know the truths about Jesus in order that we can make a firm decision to follow him.

The Apostle Paul coming to Know Christ in Acts 9 shows the miracle of Christian conversion and shows how the knowledge of Christ changes our whole life. When Christ has saved us, our whole lives ought to proclaim his work.

As you would expect from a collection of Proverbs hailing wisdom, the answer to the question, Which is more valuable, wisdom or strength? Why?

Proverbs 24:1-4 provides a sharp contrast for the long-term building of a life, family and a community. Jesus made a similar contrast when at the end of the Sermon on the Mount he spoke of two builders - one built on sand, another upon rock.
