Proverbs 22:1 gives us the answer: A good name, and/or a reputation of graciousness.
Pastor Travis shares Part 1 of 2 devotionals on business and the Bible. God cares about business and how we conduct ourselves.
This morning’s devotional comes from Acts 2:3 when the Holy Spirit comes like fire.
I, Marty, did not spend much time on the harshest and scariest part of the Matt. 8:5-13 passage on Sunday. It is the consequences of non-faith that Jesus tells the crowd hanging around him. He says that some who think they are going to be enjoying the feast at the end of time along with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will be thrown out of that gathering into outer darkness. Why?
As I (Marty) warm up for Sunday's message, Faith and Authority, I looked again at the wisdom and insight of Proverbs 21:2-3. When we are corrupted by sin humans evaluate the rightness of our lives we have a tendency to think too favorably of our own character. We need the LORD's eyes to impartially see our souls.
