This short Proverb contains two huge fundamental truths about God and us. First God is able to see and know everything in the Universe including our very thoughts. And secondly, He is equipped as the final Judge to divide the good from the evil and do so justly. We need this perspective as we live today.

How do we react to those who are poor? The Proverbs have quite a lot to say about the poor and about those who in contrast are resource rich. How does God want us to deal with the poor who will always be with us.

“Be holy as I am holy” God tells us, but we don’t accomplish this simply by our own effort. There is a letting go of ourselves, in order to be filled with the Spirit, which becomes the fuel for our days, and ultimately a life that is lived in sanctification on an uphill journey with Christ.
