Which Is greater truth or love? The Great Commission gives us the answer.

Hello, friends, I'm Wayne Shepherd. Welcoming you back to encounter God's truth with author and theologian Dr. John Whitcomb.

We're in  the middle of a teaching series called God's Truth Circles.

So far, we've seen the model for biblical disciple making, personified by the Lord Jesus, and copied by the Apostle Paul.

And this week we're going to build on that and learn more about the implications of the Great Commission as given by Christ and restated by Paul.

Today we're going to study part one of a two part lesson called Truth is Greater Than Love.

Our teacher will show us that without truth, there really is no way to understand love.

Here now to explain more is Dr. John Whitcomb.

God's Word is true from the beginning to the end.

That familiar line tells you that you're listening to Encounter God's Truth with Dr. John Whitcombe, noted author, professor, and Bible teacher.

I'm your host, Wayne Shepherd, and we're continuing a series that our speaker calls God's Truth Circles.

Today, Dr. Whitcomb is going to take us to one of his favorite verses, 2 Timothy 2, verse 2, to explain the characteristics of true discipleship.

He's going to show how a disciple must be trained to teach others the whole Word of God. All the counsel of God.

Of course, you shouldn't be surprised that on this program, our emphasis is on communicating the truth of Scripture, and we hope that that will be clear to you today.

If you've missed the beginning of the series, don't worry, you can catch up by listening to all the past programs at sermonaudio.com/Whitcomb.

But now, please open your Bible for Abel and follow along with this vital teaching.

Have you ever considered the fact that Christians have a real influence on how other people relate to God's revealed Word?

What kind of influence are you having today?

I'm Wayne Shepard, welcoming you back to Encounter God's Truth, featuring the teaching of author and Bible scholar, Dr. John Whitcomb.

We've recently begun an important teaching series entitled God's Truth Circles.

We're learning that the biblical pattern for discipleship involves a growth in responsibility and accountability as one also grows in knowledge and service to the Lord God.

And that God uses these dynamics to advance the truth of His Word.

Today, we're going to consider the topic of Paul, apostle to the Gentiles, and we'll see that Paul followed the exact model that Christ displayed during his earthly ministry.

We'll also learn more of how we are to act as biblical disciples in light of that model.

Please listen now as Dr. Whitcomb presents this intriguing study.

Dr. John Whitcomb concludes his presentation of a concept that he calls "God's Truth Circles" this week on "Encounter God's Truth."

These messages are helping us to understand more about how Jesus and the apostles dealt with people who were at various levels of learning and belief in the truths of Scripture. This gives us a model for knowing how we should approach people today, and it also informs us as to how we are to handle and teach the treasures found in Scripture—or, as Dr. Whitcomb refers to them, "the deep things of God's precious book, the Bible."

This is part of our series called "Basic Biblical Distinctions." It builds upon the foundational principle that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end.

Host Wayne Shepherd expresses our appreciation to Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Ind. Dr. Whitcomb preached these messages to that congregation, and we greatly value their help in broadcasting them here on "Encounter God's Truth."

How are we to minister and teach the Bible in a world filled with error, confusion and compromise—a world of unbelief? With whom should we identify ourselves in Christian ministry, and how do we handle the rejection of the gospel? How can we be involved in both protecting and perpetuating the revelation that God has given to us in His Word? And how does God expect us to handle His Word in a world of professing believers who do not all agree on the Bible's meaning? How can we genuinely help people that we love?

Dr. John Whitcomb begins to answer those questions today on "Encounter God's Truth" with a message on "God's Truth Circles." It is from our series called "Basic Biblical Distinctions."

This theme of "God's Truth Circles" is a paradigm that Dr. Whitcomb developed and taught over many years to help his students cultivate a greater understanding of both theology and its proper application in practical ministry. Of course, it is based in the reality that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end.

With host Wayne Shepherd, we thank Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Ind., where Dr. Whitcomb first delivered these messages, that we are able to bring them to you here on "Encounter God's Truth."

Today on "Encounter God's Truth," theology professor Dr. John Whitcomb points us to "Jesus Christ: Our Creator and Savior."

Christ is the living Word—and His written Word is true from the beginning to the end!

We will consider a number of Bible passages today as we survey important doctrinal truths about our Lord, from eternity past to eternity future. In the process, we will review many of the Biblical supports for the teaching of a young earth—created by Christ Himself.

This message was first presented to the congregation of Valley Grace Brethren Church in Hagerstown, Maryland, where the Whitcombs' son Dr. Dan Pritchett served as lead pastor for many years. We are glad to be able to share it with you.

Welcome to a special patriotic edition of "Encounter God's Truth."

You know that Dr. John Whitcomb was a Bible teacher, author and educator. But did you know that he also served in a field artillery battalion in the Army in Europe during World War II? And that his family has a rich history of military service?

This week's broadcast varies from our normal format, as we are going to listen to a portion of a classic interview that Brannon Howse conducted with Dr. Whitcomb on his program, "Worldview Weekend Radio," where Dr. Whitcomb appeared regularly as a guest for six years.

They held this conversation in April of 2015, after Dr. Whitcomb went to tour Washington, D.C., on the Indy Honor Flight. They discussed that memorable event, then went into some of the details that Dr. Whitcomb remembered from World War II. We are grateful for Brannon's permission to bring this unforgettable audio to you.

Host Wayne Shepherd helps us see how this intimate remembrance of history causes us to learn once again that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end!

God's Word is true from the beginning to the end!

We turn to the very end of the book this week on "Encounter God's Truth" with theologian Dr. John Whitcomb. It gives us a glimpse of the glory that awaits us—and also one last invitation for everyone to come and trust in Christ and receive His all-sufficient provisions for eternity.

Host Wayne Shepherd asks Dr. Whitcomb if this study of the eternal destiny of the church sheds light on the church's origin and nature, as described in the historical books of the New Testament and the epistles.

Whitcomb Ministries thanks you for listening to this study of "A New Heaven and a New Earth." We hope that it will be a real encouragement to you!

Bible teacher Dr. John Whitcomb explores the unique role of the church as the Bride of Christ in this installment of "Encounter God's Truth."

God's Word is true from the beginning to the end, and we learn in this broadcast that it will be so at the future Marriage Supper of the Lamb—when Jesus Christ will return from heaven in glory and this relationship of Christ to His church will be displayed before the nations.

Host Wayne Shepherd proceeds to inquire of Dr. Whitcomb as to how we might use our time at the close of this church age to become better prepared to meet the Lord and participate in this celebration.

We appreciate your involvement in this ministry, and encourage you to share these truths with others who need to hear!
