In this episode author Doug Giles talk about his book “Biblical Badasses: The Old Men,” arguing from Joel 2 (and Acts 2) that God calls older men to keep dreaming, serving, and mentoring rather than retiring. They highlight biblical examples such as Abraham being called at 76, Caleb claiming his inheritance at 85, David’s desire in Psalm 71 to declare God’s power to the next generation, and Zechariah and Elizabeth receiving a late answer to long-prayed requests. The conversation critiques a culture that idolizes youth, warns that older men who “check out” can drift into sin, and emphasizes transferring wisdom and discernment to younger believers. They also challenge age-segregated “youth ministry” as unbiblical, urging fathers and elders to disciple the young, and close by contrasting becoming like disciplined, Scripture-saturated Charlie Kirk versus imitating a reckless “Charlie Sheen” lifestyle.Links Doug would like you to visit:Biblical Badasses: The Old Men: https://amzn.to/4roll61https://www.douggiles.art/To Learn More About Ken Chinn:Website: https://www.kenchinn.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/Encounterswi...TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@encounterswit...To Purchase Ken Chinn's Book click one of the following links.Book: https://amzn.to/3BK6AUzAudiobook: https://adbl.co/3R8TIvySupport us on Venmo:https://account.venmo.com/u/Encounter...#DougGiles #ChristianMen #FaithOverRetirement #Joel2 #Acts2 #BiblicalMasculinity #ChristianMentorship #OldMenDreaming #AbrahamCalling #CalebAt85 #Psalm71 #ZachariasAndElizabeth #AgainstRetirement #ChristianDiscipleship #YouthMinistryDebate #FathersDisciple #CharlieKirk #ElderMentorship #BiblicalManhood #KingdomPurpose #ChristianWorldview #NoRetirement #DreamAgain #BiblicalElders #ChristianLegacy #NextGenerationFaith #ChristianApologetics #BibleStudy #OldTestamentHeroes #ChristianPodcast #FaithAndCulture #ChristianBooks #BiblicalWisdom #MentorshipMatters #ChristianLeadership #christianpodcast #podcast #encounterswithgod #jesustalk 00:00 Welcome and New Book00:41 No Retirement in Joel01:23 Abraham Called at 7602:49 Revival Needs Old Men04:03 Mentoring Transfers Wisdom06:36 Caleb Wants the Mountain10:21 David Back in the Fight13:37 God Uses Flawed Old Men15:52 Zacharias and Late Prayers17:10 Praying Big for Kids18:53 Youth Ministry Origins19:18 Kids in Jesus Meetings20:51 Sola Scriptura Critique22:23 Dads Own Discipleship23:43 Why Youth Leave Church24:16 Conversion and College Group26:13 Mentored by Elders27:39 Challenge Pastors and Elders30:51 Feminized Youth Pastors33:44 Be Like Charlie37:39 Hard Work Finale
