Happy New Year, dear Hive Open Mic community!

With much affection, I greet you and wish you a year full of health, inspiration, and prosperity. In this special week, with theme number 300, I want to share with you a very meaningful song for me, both for its story and the moment in which it was born.

The song is titled “Amor Prohibido” and it is my own creation—both lyrics and music. Interestingly, I never recorded it or sang it in public. I composed it when I was just 15 years old, during my high school days. At that time, I met a beautiful woman who worked at the institution. A very special connection arose between us, an attraction that, although intense, was impossible to make real: because of my age and the commitments she already had.

We shared many conversations, moments I still hold dear. In the end, we each went our separate ways, but this song remained as a witness to that youthful, pure, and sincere feeling. Today, after so many years, I want to bring it to life through this wonderful platform and share it with you, who always receive every artistic expression with such respect and love.

I hope you enjoy “Amor Prohibido”, and that this new year continues to unite us through music, art, and the spoken word.

Con mucho cariño les saludo y les deseo un año lleno de salud, inspiración y prosperidad. En esta semana especial, con el tema número 300, quiero compartir con ustedes una canción muy significativa para mí, tanto por su historia como por el momento en que nació.

La canción se titula “Amor Prohibido” y es de mi autoría, tanto la letra como la música. Curiosamente, nunca la llegué a grabar ni a cantar en público. La compuse cuando tenía apenas 15 años, en mis días de secundaria. En ese entonces, conocí a una mujer hermosa que trabajaba en la institución. Entre nosotros surgió una conexión muy especial, una atracción que, aunque intensa, era imposible de concretar: por mi edad y por los compromisos que ella ya tenía.

Compartimos muchas conversaciones, momentos que aún guardo con cariño. Al final, cada quien siguió su camino, pero esta canción quedó como testigo de ese sentimiento juvenil, puro y sincero. Hoy, después de tantos años, quiero darle vida a través de esta maravillosa plataforma, y compartirla con ustedes, que siempre reciben con tanto respeto y amor cada expresión artística.

Espero que disfruten de “Amor Prohibido”, y que este nuevo año nos siga uniendo a través de la música, el arte y la palabra.

I have always been very connected to folk music, that genre that takes us to our roots and traditions. However, this time I decided to take a different step, a kind of epiphany, a very personal discovery: daring to try salsa. I confess that I always thought it was a complicated genre because of its rhythm and swing; I don't even find it easy to dance, but I was encouraged because I already knew the lyrics of the song "¿De que tamaño es tu amor?", composed by Reynaldo Armas.

This song was brought to the tropical genre in 1985 by Héctor Lavoe, within his great album Reventó. At that moment, Lavoe was going through difficulties in his personal and professional life, and the song became a kind of reflection on the value of love in the face of the emptiness of fame and life's problems. That mix of genres and awareness inspired me to try it, even though it wasn't easy.

For me, singing salsa meant discovering that I can adapt to other rhythms, even though there are still details to polish. It is a reminder that music is a vast world, full of possibilities, and that we can always learn new things. Beyond technique, what matters is the emotion and the message: love has immense value, much more than material things.

I hope you can listen to my interpretation and let yourselves be carried away by the rhythm of salsa. May this year's end motivate us to keep creating, discovering, and sharing music that brings us closer and makes us feel alive.

Queridos amigos del Open Mic, soy Diego López @encuentro quiero despedir este año con un gran abrazo de Feliz Año , a través de #Hive, #Blockchain y la plataforma de #video #3speak. Mañana cerramos un ciclo y me emociona gustaría compartir con ustedes una experiencia musical que para mí fue un reto.

Siempre he estado muy ligado a la música folklórica, ese género que nos lleva a nuestras raíces y tradiciones. Sin embargo, en esta ocasión decidí dar un paso distinto, una especie de epifanía, un descubrimiento muy personal: atreverme con la salsa. Confieso que siempre pensé que era un género complicado por su ritmo y su swing, ni siquiera me resulta fácil bailar, pero me animé porque ya conocía la letra de la canción “¿De que tamaño es tu amor?”, compuesta por Reynaldo Armas.

Este tema fue llevado al género tropical en 1985 por Héctor Lavoe, dentro de su buen álbum Reventó. En ese momento, Lavoe atravesaba dificultades en su vida y profesionales, y la canción se convirtió en una especie de reflexión sobre el valor del amor frente a su vacío de la fama y los problemas de la vida. Esa mezcla de géneros y conciencia me inspiró a intentarlo, aunque no fuera sencillo.

Para mí, cantar salsa significó descubrir que sí puedo adaptarme a otros ritmos, aunque todavía haya detalles por pulir. Es un recordatorio de que la música es un mundo amplio, lleno de posibilidades, y que siempre podemos aprender cosas nuevas. Más allá de la técnica, lo importante es la emoción y el mensaje: el amor tiene un valor inmenso, mucho más que lo material.

Espero que puedan escuchar mi interpretación y que se dejen llevar por el ritmo de la salsa. Que este cierre de año nos motive a seguir creando, descubriendo y compartiendo música que nos acerque y nos haga sentir vivos.

Para mis amigos del Open Mic, un cariñoso abrazo colmado de música parranda y recuerdos.

En esta ocasión, quiero compartir con todos ustedes una parranda titulada “Historia y Tradición”, una canción que rinde homenaje a Villa de Cura, mi querido pueblo natal, ese rincón donde crecí desde mis primeros días.

Tenía yo apenas 9 años cuando mi madre tarareaba esta canción que le encantaba. Recuerdo que me llevo a una misa de aguinaldos inolvidable en la plaza Miranda, donde presencié en vivo al legendario grupo Los Turpiales de Aragua que escuchaba en radio y disco de acetato.

Allí estaban Guillermo Moronta (conocido como “Moronta”) y Emilio Pérez, el talentoso compositor de esta pieza y de muchas otras con un profundo valor histórico. Con su voz y su cuatro, le daban un sabor buenísimo a la parranda. Emilio, con su humildad característica, años después me contó que conoció al gran Julio Jaramillo en aquellas parrandas de antaño.

Son hombres que inspiran, que aún conservan el alma festiva y autóctona de nuestra tierra. Emilio Pérez, mi gran amigo, sigue cantando con entusiasmo a sus 80 años. Actualmente viajo al amazonas a visitar a sus familiares.

A los 15 años, cuando mi mamá me permite salir solo a otros lugares del pueblo, dónde el señor Carrasquel Emilio y Moronta me abrieron las puertas. Ensayábamos los miércoles en la tarde en la parroquia Las Mercedes, siempre con alegría y una gran camaradería. Me acompañaba mi compadre Pablo Aláhe hoy en hive (@pablosaxo), y juntos recorríamos las casas en diciembre, llevando parranda, comiendo hallacas, pan de jamón y disfrutando de una buena sopa o parrilla.

Hoy quiero rendir homenaje a Los Turpiales de Aragua y a mis grandes amigos, interpretando este tema de Emilio Pérez, que también honra a nuestro pueblo. Gracias a la tecnología, esta canción quedará plasmada por siempre en la blockchain, disponible para ser escuchada en cualquier rincón del mundo.

To my friends from the Open Mic, a warm hug filled with music, parranda, and memories.

On this occasion, I want to share with all of you a parranda titled “History and Tradition,” a song that pays tribute to Villa de Cura, my beloved hometown, that little corner where I grew up from my earliest days.

I was just 9 years old when my mother used to hum this song she loved. I remember she took me to an unforgettable Christmas mass at Plaza Miranda, where I saw live the legendary group Los Turpiales de Aragua, whom I used to listen to on the radio and vinyl records.

There they were: Guillermo Moronta (known as “Moronta”) and Emilio Pérez, the talented composer of this piece and many others with deep historical value. With his voice and his cuatro, they gave the parranda an amazing flavor. Emilio, with his characteristic humility, told me years later that he met the great Julio Jaramillo in those old-time parrandas.

They are men who inspire, who still preserve the festive and native soul of our land. Emilio Pérez, my great friend, continues to sing with enthusiasm at 80 years old. He currently travels to the Amazon to visit his relatives.

🎶 My First Encounters with Music

At 15 years old, when my mom allowed me to go out alone to other places in town, Mr. Carrasquel, Emilio, and Moronta opened their doors to me. We rehearsed on Wednesday afternoons at the Las Mercedes parish, always with joy and great camaraderie. I was accompanied by my compadre Pablo Aláhe, now on Hive (@pablosaxo), and together we went house to house in December, bringing parranda, eating hallacas, pan de jamón, and enjoying a good soup or barbecue.

¡Hola, querida comunidad! Qué alegría saludarlos de nuevo en esta plataforma que nos permite compartir lo que lo que nos gusta: la música. En esta oportunidad, me uno a la Semana 166 del Hive Music Festival para traerles un tema cargado de sentimiento y mucha historia llanera.

Para esta ronda, he decidido interpretar una canción del recordado Julio Miranda, conocido por muchos como "El Cantautor del Amor". Se trata de un pasaje titulado "Aquella Noche". Julio Miranda, quien fuera un gran coplero oriundo de Carúpano, estado Sucre, tenía una capacidad increíble para transformar lo cotidiano en melodías inolvidables.

Esta canción en particular tiene una nostalgia y una melodía que me parece hermosa; es de esas piezas que demuestran cómo la pasión puede convertir un recuerdo en algo bonito.

Estamos en pleno diciembre y no quería dejar pasar la oportunidad para desearles mucha salud. A quienes están disfrutando de las fiestas navideñas, me alegro muchísimo por ustedes. Sin embargo, siempre he pensado que la alegría no debería depender de una fecha; se puede disfrutar en cualquier mes del año siempre que tengamos la oportunidad y la disposición en el corazón.

A veces la costumbre nos gana y nos olvidamos de lo importante, pero creo fielmente que debemos cultivar el amor por nuestra propia vida. El simple hecho de tener un cuerpo saludable, energía y el ánimo para seguir adelante ya es un motivo suficiente para celebrar.

For this round, I’ve decided to perform a song by the late Julio Miranda, known by many as “The Singer-Songwriter of Love.” It’s a pasaje titled “Aquella Noche.” Julio Miranda, who was a great coplero from Carúpano, Sucre state, had an incredible ability to turn everyday life into unforgettable melodies.

A pesar de superar ya los 70 años, sigue activo llevando su inspiración al público que lo quiere y lo respalda.

El tema que les presento hoy se vincula perfectamente con el de esta semana: "Llámame". Esto me hizo pensar rápidamente en la canción "Sin querer queriendo", donde se habla de ese conflicto interno emocional.

En esa época sin celulares, se llamaba por vía "analógica", ¿no? Y muchas veces había fallas... Para un enamorado, eso era duro, porque no había fotos, no había Facebook, solo el cable telefónico.Mis amigos, les dejo esta interpretación humilde de la música venezolana, específicamente la música romancera del llano que se canta en las regiones del Guárico.

Greetings, Hive Open Mic family!

This time I wanted to join the weekly theme with a song that, although not easy at all, captivated me with its melody from the very first moment: "Volveré." I learned it over the weekend because I felt its title fit perfectly with the theme and what we're sharing this week. Of course, I had to adapt it quite a bit to my vocal range, which isn’t as wide as Rubby Pérez’s, but I did it with enthusiasm.

For this performance, I used a merengue base with conga, tambora, and güira, and recorded my Venezuelan cuatro over it. Here’s the source of the percussion:

A bit of history about this song: "Volveré" was composed by Spanish musicians Paco Cepero and Ignacio Román Jiménez. The first version was a flamenco ballad performed by Chiquetete in 1983. But it was in the 1980s when Rubby Pérez, as the lead singer of Wilfrido Vargas’s orchestra, brought it into the merengue genre with an arrangement by Ramón Orlando, under the Karen Records label. That version became a huge hit and is one many of us remember fondly.

I hope you enjoy this version that I share with much respect and affection, made from my little creative corner, with the few resources I have at hand, but above all, with a great desire to share and keep growing together with all of you.

Esta vez quise sumarme al tema de la semana con una canción que, aunque no es nada sencilla, me gustó su melodía desde el primer momento: "Volveré". Me la aprendí en tiempo este fin de semana porque sentí que su nombre encaja perfectamente con el tema y con lo que estamos compartiendo esta semana. Eso sí, tuve que adaptarla bastante a mi registro vocal, que no es tan amplio como el de Rubby Pérez, pero lo hice con entusiasmo

Para esta interpretación, utilicé una base de merengue con conga tambora y Guira sobre ella grabé mi cuatro venezolano. Aquí dejo la fuente de la percusión:

Seguramente que el ritmo del cuatro no es exactamente el original, pero buscando un sonido que me hiciera sentir cómodo, me di cuenta de que la parranda venezolana le daba un aire muy especial y entra en el compás. Así que decidí llevarla por ahí, con ese sabor nuestro. La verdad nunca había interpretado un canción de este género merengue.

Un poco de historia sobre esta canción: "Volveré" fue compuesta por los españoles Paco Cepero e Ignacio Román Jiménez. La primera versión fue una balada flamenca interpretada por Chiquetete en 1983. Pero fue en los años 80 cuando Rubby Pérez, como vocalista de la orquesta de Wilfrido Vargas, la llevó al merengue con un arreglo de Ramón Orlando, bajo el sello Karen Records. Esa versión fue un éxito rotundo y es la que muchos tenemos grabada en la memoria.

🎶 Semana 163 – Ronda 1 | Hive Festival – Music Zone 🇻🇪

¡Saludos, querida comunidad de @musiczone! Soy @encuentro, mi nombre es Diego López, y me complace profundamente presentarme hoy en esta semana 163, ronda 1 del Hive Festival.

En esta ocasión, quiero rendir homenaje a uno de los grandes íconos de nuestra música llanera: Jesús Moreno, el inolvidable Rey del Pasaje, orgullo del Samán de Apure. Que Dios lo tenga en su santa gloria. Fue un hombre que, entre las faenas del campo y las melodías que brotaban de su voz tan especial, logró conquistar corazones y dejar una huella imborrable en el alma del pueblo. Su estilo apureño, tan auténtico y lleno de sentimiento, sigue siendo una fuente de inspiración para quienes amamos este género.

Hoy interpretaré una de sus canciones más conocidas, con el corazón en la mano y acompañado de mi cuatro. Por cierto, tuve que hacerle una reparación de emergencia esta mañana, ya que un travieso gato decidió montarse y quebrarlo durante la noche. A pesar de eso, la música me impulsa a seguir adelante.

He decidido grabar esta presentación al aire libre, en un rincón muy especial para mí: mi pequeño jardín, mi refugio en medio de la ciudad. Allí, entre el canto de los pájaros y la brisa del atardecer, encuentro paz y fuerza para seguir creando, soñando y compartiendo.

Greetings, dear @musiczone community! I am @encuentro, my name is Diego López, and I am deeply pleased to present myself in this week 163, round 1 of the Hive Festival.

On this occasion, I want to pay tribute to one of the great icons of our llanera music: Jesús Moreno, the unforgettable King of the Pasaje, pride of the Samán de Apure. May God have him in his holy glory. He was a man who, between the labors of the field and the melodies that flowed from his very special voice, managed to conquer hearts and leave an indelible mark on the soul of the people. His Apureño style, so authentic and full of feeling, continues to be a source of inspiration for those of us who love this genre.

Today I will perform one of his best-known songs, with my heart in my hand and accompanied by my faithful cuatro. By the way, I had to make an emergency repair to it this morning, since a mischievous cat decided to climb on it and broke it during the night. Despite that, my love for music drives me to keep going.

I have decided to record this performance outdoors, in a very special corner for me: my little garden, my refuge in the middle of the city. There, among the singing of the birds and the evening breeze, I find peace and strength to continue creating, dreaming, and sharing.

To all my Venezuelan brothers and to those who join us from other latitudes, I send a big hug. Thank you for keeping the flame of our music alive and for allowing me to be part of this beautiful family. See you on the screen!
