Episode five - Give Everything- stars Boris Herrmann and Rosalin Kuiper from Leg 3 of the Southern Ocean during The Ocean Race 2023.

Listen along as Boris Herrmann and Rosalin Kuiper overlap on their watch on day 16 of leg 3 The Ocean Race. They are further from civilisation that almost any other human and they let us in to their private conversations, hopes fears, the highs and lows. 

The pair start their discussion with crossing the scoring line in second place and how the repairs went, after 8 hours in the foil case they were exhausted but happy. They joke about how this went and how funny it is to repair at sea. They give special praise to the boat captain Stuart who expertly advises them from land. 

They are also comparing the different sailing styles of Boris, Rosie, Will and Nico. The pushing and preserving element that has become clear between the four of them. They joke that Boris is like the sleeping dad keeping an eye on them and how he handles this element.

They talk further on the mental happiness level of each of the sailors on board and how they each coupe. The little mechanisms that they use!

The pair also discuss the leg, the desire to win it and touch on some of their creature comforts on board whilst also discussing the link to the land and how they interact with the shore team.

Episode four - Mindset- stars Boris Herrmann and Rosalin Kuiper from Leg 3 of the Southern Ocean during The Ocean Race 2023.

Listen along as Boris Herrmann and Rosalin Kuiper overlap on their watch on day 14 of leg 3 The Ocean Race. They are further from civilisation that almost any other human and they let us in to their private conversations, hopes fears, the highs and lows. 

The pair start with their jingle and then ask what other people are doing around the world in the team and where they are at the moment. Then they discuss their essential equipment like eye masks and earpods. 

They talk about music tastes, the position in the race over taking Biotherm and 11th Hour and how Antoine is very happy for them to have moved out of 4th place, they need to be at least 3rd to keep him happy. Special guest Antoine Auriol is talking about flying the drone and his happiness level. The first thing Antoine will want to do in Itajai is to  lay on the dock and then Caipirinha with the team. 
They discuss that Will is the one pushing them for performance but they are always a bit scared of the line between performance and breaking the boat. They both agree that they have to push in order to be 2nd. 

They discuss that after this line it will decompress a bit but until the first finish line they will check the boat. How do you actually feel on the boat they ask - Sometimes in a bubble and don’t talk so much but yesterday Antoine and Boris took half an hour to chat. Antoine describes it as a "Small suffering" - with the boat you have to hang on and be patient. Normally I play. I don’t suffer but here it is a different I can't play but it is a good mental training - it is all about Mindset. 
On the boat they lack a bit of light - the windows are covered in fog. Boris doesn't think further ahead but thinks in terms of the next 4 hours each time. Breaking Time into sections.

They then discuss the ice limit and how this is moving. 

They finish by discussing their favourite things:

• Kuehne and Nagel and how one of them called from dinner last night.

Episode three - Paranoia- stars Boris Herrmann and Rosalin Kuiper from Leg 3 of the Southern Ocean during The Ocean Race 2023.

The pair discuss Boris' paranoia about the potential for the boat to be damaged at these sustained breakneck speeds. The happiness level or each sailor and how to bring this level up during the day, yesterday Rosie managed to overcome her down feelings. They reflect deeply on their own psychological wellbeing and how to mange this during such a long and intense race. The pair touch on the flat earth society and whether they will fall off the edge of the Earth.  They also visit how Boris recovered after the Vendee Globe and what happened after the race to move the campaign on. The duo also discuss what happened yesterday with the breaking of the J3, how they dealt with it and their interaction with 11th hour.

Episode Two - It's Not Sunshine Everyday - stars Boris Herrmann and Rosalin Kuiper from a bouncy day 12 on Leg 3 of the Southern Ocean during The Ocean Race 2023.

Listen along to this light hearted episode, as Boris Herrmann and Rosalin Kuiper overlap on their watch on day 12 of The Ocean Race.  The pair discuss the differences of each day at sea. The bouncy day at sea and having to slow down a little to protect the boat. The duo discuss the smells they experience on the boat. For Boris he thinks that it doesn't smell so much at sea but for Rosie she experiences all smells on the ocean. 

They discuss showering at sea, how you stop yourself smelling. 
They discuss the expectations of the race and the deeper meaning of why they do the race. The fact that with their mast repair they have won their own race already. We should not forget that if we arrive we should be so proud. With the mast repair we became so close as a team. 
Boris talks about the emotions that hit him when he thought that they might not be able to continue in leg 3 of the Ocean Race. They discuss toilet breaks on board and hygiene routines. They also talk about the fact that every day is the same and that you lose a sense of time zones as you zoom through time zones almost every day but you stay with UTC time in order to keep this schedule. You start to become out of kilter with time. They finish by discussing their favourite offshore meals.

Episode one - A Paradox- stars Boris Herrmann, Rosalin Kuiper and Antoine Auriol from Leg 3 of the Southern Ocean during The Ocean Race 2023. 

Listen along as Boris Herrmann and Rosalin Kuiper overlap on their watch on day 11 of The Ocean Race. The pair discuss life on board and the paradox that even in living in such a small space, some of them will hardly see each other due to the watch system. 
They dive into the things they find hard at sea, the loneliness and the rhythm of life. Eating on board and the importance of good snacks and how meal time is such a key moment for the pair. How you can fake being happy with a big smile, even when you are not and the fact that this can really work to lift your spirits. 
They discuss the idea that human interaction and talking really help them to keep positive at sea. The duo then discuss International Women’s Day and how the history of female sailors has evolved, in the past it was even bad luck to have a female sailor on board! We also meet Antoine Auriol our onboard reporter who wakes from his sleep and joins the pair to discuss what life is really like at sea!
