Chapter 13 of the Book of Revelation can be frightening. The beast (the anti-Christ) is revealed, then dies, then returns from the dead. The whole world is astounded and begins to worship the dragon (Satan), the one who empowers the anti-Christ. But that’s not all. The one-world government is established by the anti-Christ, during which time the false prophet rises and with him, the “mark of the beast.” Those who take the mark will be allowed to buy and sell, and those without it, may not.

 From the beginning of time, “the Woman,” symbolizing mankind, has been at war with “the dragon,” symbolizing Satan. We see the conflict in Genesis when the dragon deceives Eve and sin enters the world. We see the battle again at the very end of the Bible in Revelation, Chapter 26, where the woman, representing Israel, gives birth to the Messiah, and the dragon symbolizes Herod whom Satan inspires to try to kill the Messiah once he’s born.

But the story isn’t over. In Chapter 26, we skip ahead in time to the Tribulation period when the woman, symbolizing Israel, is taken to a place of protection from the dragon who then turns his attention to “make war against the rest of her offspring.” But what does that mean? In Chapters 8 and 9 of Revelation, the 7th seal is opened, and the first five trumpet judgments are released upon the earth. A third of the earth is burned up, a third of the sea turns to blood, a third of the waters become poisonous, and a third of the sun, moon and stars are darkened. Moreover, millions of demons are released by the Destroyer to torture mankind—that is, those who do not have the seal of God upon their foreheads. Still, these are just a third of the judgments to come.

In Chapter 6 of Revelation, the 5th seal is opened, and John is given a glimpse into the heavenly realms where the Tribulation saints cry out for justice. As Christ addresses the early churches in the beginning chapters of the Book of Revelation, he admonishes some of them for their worship of idols and false gods.
