On this episode we sit down with Chris Akin of Webb Footed Kennel is Jonesboro, AR. Chris has been a dog trainer and waterfowl hunter for over 30 years. I followed Chris and his dog Boomer in the early 2000’s when they won the very first ESPN Great Outdoor games. Like so many others, Chris and Boomer were the reason I wanted to get my first retriever and waterfowl hunt. Chris has hunted waterfowl all over North America but explains to us why there’s nothing better than leaning up against a tree in Arkansas flooded timber. In this episode we dive into why Chris thinks timber hunting is great for a young dog and also some of his why’s behind good nutrition for his dogs.

This week on the podcast we're joined by Josh Miller of River Stone Kennels. Josh has been training dogs in Wisconsin for well over a decade and spends as much time hunting with his dogs in the fall and winter as he can. We discuss how Josh got started in retriever training and some of the biggest mistakes he sees waterfowlers make with their dogs. We take a deep dive into Josh’s why behind choosing British labs and we end with some great tips that every dog owner needs to hear. This week on the podcast I talk to Geoff Irvine. Geoff is a very accomplished waterfowl hunter from New Zealand, who comes to the states every year to chase birds. We talk about some of the main differences between the styles of waterfowl hunting and also about what’s the same. Geoff has a very cool perspective on hunting in the states, as we talk about the hospitality he’s received while being here.
