FOCUS and the FOUR HORSEMEN

“And now dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts [FOCUS] on what is true, and honorable, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” PHIL4.8NLT

That is JESUS! FOCUS on HIM!

Perfect love in Jesus casts out ALL fear! WHITE HORSE He that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering and to conquer.

RED HORSE And power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

BLACK HORSE And I heard a voice from among the four living beings say, “A loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley will cost a day’s pay.[b] And don’t waste the olive oil and wine.

PALE GREEN HORSE I looked up and saw a horse whose color was pale green. Its rider was named Death, and his companion was the Grave. These two were given authority over one-fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword and famine and disease and wild animals.

What should we do?

FOCUS.

1. Snap Up So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. 1 Thess5.6

2. Sober Up But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love… 1 Thess5.8a

3. Suit Up ...and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. 1 Thess5.8b

PRAY. PREPARE. PROTECT. PROCLAIM. PERSIST. PERSEVERE. PRAY AGAIN. PASS IT ON. POWER UP. POSITION PROPERLY. PAY ATTENTION. PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.

WATCH OUT!  KEEP ALERT!  PRAY FOR STRENGTH!

We shouldn't be surprised when things happen like what is going on in eastern Europe, China, the Middle East, and even in our own country. The Bible warned us and continues to be as true today as it was when it was penned. Instead, seek the Truth of the Word of God and prepare for what is to come.

That means, accept Jesus into your heart, making right with God, living for Him, being strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit to live and love, have courage and strength, and be mindful of the signs of the times. And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken. ‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:25-26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Watch out!

Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man. ‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:34-36‬ ‭NLT‬‬

FEAR Cripples, FAITH in God strengthens even in the trial.

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." James 1.12 NIV

"This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1.9 NLT

"Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." Isaiah 41.10 NLT

FEAR is crippling.

There is only one FEAR in the Bible that we should have. "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." PR1.7 "All who fear the LORD will hate evil. Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance, corruption and perverse speech." PR8.13 “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave." Revelation 1.17b-18 NLT

UN-BECOME to BECOME, OUR NORMAL v. GOD'S NORMAL

"Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13.8 NLT

Un-become to become! I must be in my Father's house.

1. Connection Stay connected to Gods heart

2. Obedience Stay connected to God’s instruction

3. Growth Stay connected to God’s plan

4. Wisdom Stay connected to God’s Word

5. Stature Stay connected to God’s strength A natural growth. Increase our activity spiritually.

6. Favor Stay connected to God's grace, God's anointing, and God's love! Give glory to God.

7. Rest Stay connected to God’s rest. Take the weight off...

A rhythm of connection with God. Recharge. Peace. Un-become to become! Our normal is the opposite of all of these. We would sometimes rather do things on our own rather than be connected, be obedient, grow. We look to our own understanding, our own strength. We live according to our own truth, and we work hard to stay on top.

Our normal is not good enough We need to UN-BECOME in order to BECOME what God’s normal is - staying connected to God through obedience, His plan, His Word, His Strength, His Grace, anointing, and love, and resting in His presence. The word in 1 Corinthians 13.8 for "fails" is pepto, meaning "falls." Love will be the last thing standing. It will never fall or be crushed under the weight of hate and sin.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD

65 times in the Bible Jesus is referred to as the Light of the World. In the Old Testament Scriptures (specifically, the Torah), Moses and the people of Israel were not allowed to look at the face of God. We need the Light of Jesus in this world more now than ever before. It is a dark, dark world.
