Jocelyn McCauley ran cross-country and track for the Brigham Young Cougars from 2005-2009. With her degree in hand, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, and found work as an intensive care unit cardiology nurse. She and her husband, Scott, also started a family. They are the parents of 18-month-old Emilyn.

While she relishes being a mother, wife and nurse, she remains an elite athlete, winning the amateur female division of the 2014 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, on Oct. 11.

Jodie Swallow's athletic career began at the tender age of thirteen when she first represented Wales and then Great Britain in the pool. Whilst at university, she was recruited into the British Triathlon Team, winning her first international race, the European Juniors in 2000. Jodie's professional athletic accomplishments include a recent 4th at Ironman Hawaii, winning 2013 Ironman Sweden, winning the 2010 Ironman 70.3 World Championships, winning the 2009 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships, and representing Great Britain at the 2004 Olympics.

James Cunnama comes from a very sporty family in South-Africa with both parents having completed multiple Comrades Marathons and discovered the joys of long distance running at a young age.

In 2004, James was drafted into the volunteer ranks to assist in race-day organisation of the Port Elisabeth Half-Ironman. The next year the real thing, the Ironman, came to town and James became more involved in the organisation. This first-hand encounter with one of the toughest single-day endurance events in the world opened the door to a new world and James was bitten by the notorious ‘triathlon bug’.

Rachel Joyce says she was a hyperactive child, which probably explains how as an adult she had the incredible energy required to be both a champion triathlete and a corporate lawyer. Joyce began her sporting life as a swimmer, but in 2005 she grew bored of following the black line and decided to give triathlon a go. Before she quit her legal job in 2008, Joyce would switch from her work suit into spandex so she could cram in training before work, after and during her lunch hours.

Grabbing 3rd at the 2014 Ironman World Championships, she now has five top ten finishes in Kona to her name.

Tim Van Berkel finished 7th in Kona this year and made folks around him aware that he needs to be watched in future years. Tim stumbled across triathlon at the age of 18, during the off season with his Aussie Rules Football team mates, where they decided to do triathlon to keep fit whilst in the off-season. At 24 years old, Tim won Ironman Western Australia in 2008, which made him the second youngest Ironman Champion, behind Germany’s Thomas Hellriegel.

Now, at age 30, many years after he first watched the Hawaii Ironman on TV, he realised his dream of racing and will be looking to come back even stronger next year.

Phil Collard was diagnosed as having cancer at the very young age of 18 months. The cancer was beaten but, as a direct result, Phil has had two separate occasions in his life (once in his mid-teens and once in his early thirties) when he has been told to prepare for life in a wheelchair.

A genius of a surgeon, a total hip replacement, masses of determination and the support of a wife and two sons later, Phil is now a qualified fitness instructor, a regular cyclist, swimmer and triathlete who recently finished Ironman Sweden!
