CCI Eating Disorder Coach - certified by Carolyn Costin

“One thing I have learned is that everyone has a unique story to tell with regards to their eating disorder journey.”   

Through her own personal journey, which ultimately led Nicola to become a Recovered Certified Eating Disorder coach, she learned to stop treating her eating disorder as her enemy and instead learned from it.

She was able to reach a place of understanding what her eating disorder was doing for her so that she could find other ways to meet those needs; and she was able to achieve  full recovery.

Her backstory includes generational experiences with eating disorders - Nicola shares - 

“In December 2019 our family was devastated to be facing the diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa for our youngest child, our daughter who was then just 15 years old.

Having been through this nightmare myself was a blessing and a curse. I could identify with the mental turmoil and could understand the behaviours, but I could also feel the pain. 

I vowed that no matter what it took, I would support her to full recovery. It took a team of professionals, it took 2 hospitalizations, it took 2 and a half years of consistent meals, therapy, and love. There was still one thing missing. 

Then we found it. An eating disorder coach, certified by Carolyn Costin and willing to coach both my daughter and I as her support through to full recovery. 

I had thought that my recovery journey was the ‘fight of my life’….it turned out that this journey would be the fight of OUR lives. 

We couldn’t have done it without our coach. 

How could I not use my lived experience as a recovered person and as a parent of a recovered child? 

I received my certification as an Eating Disorder Coach from The Carolyn Costin Institute and have continued since to bring support and mentoring to clients worldwide who are challenged by eating disorders.
