We're all looking for something better — and the Book of Hebrews was written to people who felt that ache too. On the last day of the last week of We Dream, we see one very practical way the Philippians lived out their partnership with Paul: they gave, again and again, even when he was in prison. And Paul's response to their generosity reframes what giving actually is — not a transaction, but an act of worship.

Years after Lydia's riverside conversion, Paul writes to the Philippians from prison — and he's overflowing with joy, not despair. The reason: this church hasn't just watched Paul's mission from a distance. They've shared in it. Today we look at what real partnership in the gospel looks like, and what Paul prays over a church that has it.

Scripture: Acts 16:16–34 Runtime: ~7 min

Light doesn't stay welcome for long where the darkness profits from the dark. When Paul frees an exploited slave girl from a spirit that made money for her owners, the backlash is immediate — not theological, but financial. Paul and Silas end up beaten and chained. And that's exactly where the light keeps shining.

If a movement as world-changing as the gospel were going to start anywhere, you'd expect a stage and a crowd. Instead, the church at Philippi began on a riverbank, with a conversation, and one woman named Lydia. Today we watch what it actually looks like when salt and light show up in an ordinary moment.

• How Paul and his companions ended up outside Philippi's city gate looking for nothing more than a place of prayer
• Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth and already a worshiper of God — and the moment Luke is careful to credit to God alone: "The Lord opened her heart"

Three weeks in, every dream we've named — worship, following, love — has been pulling in the same direction: outward. This final week of We Dream, we're asking what it looks like to be a sent church, one that doesn't stop being the Church when Sunday ends. It starts with two pictures Jesus gives His disciples, and a truth He doesn't ask them to earn.

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:1–13

A church can be gifted, impressive, knowledgeable, generous, and active—and still miss what matters most.

In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul reminds a gifted and ambitious church that without love, all their accomplishments amount to nothing. Gifts, knowledge, programs, buildings, technology, and even the structures we build to do ministry have an expiration date.

Love doesn't.

Paul describes love as patient and kind, not envious, boastful, proud, self-seeking, or easily angered. Love protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres—and never fails.

That's the dream for Christ Fellowship: better before bigger. Not simply a church known for what it accomplishes, but a church known for love—the one thing that will outlive everything else.

Scripture: Romans 12:14–21

What does loving someone look like when they've actually hurt you?

Paul begins with a challenging instruction: love must be sincere. Not outward politeness covering inward resentment, but genuine love expressed through practical action. Bless those who persecute you. Don't repay evil with evil. Don't seek revenge. If your enemy is hungry, feed them.

But Paul also gives an important qualification: "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

Some relationships won't be reconciled. Some situations aren't safe. Reconciliation requires two willing people, while forgiveness and refusing retaliation are choices we can make before God. We are responsible for our own posture and actions; we can leave justice and the other person's response in God's hands.

The goal isn't simply to survive evil. Paul calls us to overcome evil with good.

Scripture: Matthew 5:43–48

Loving people who love us isn't particularly difficult. Jesus calls His followers to something far more radical: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

Jesus isn't talking merely about people who annoy us, disagree with us, or live differently than we think they should. He was speaking to people who understood genuine oppression and persecution. Yet even there, He commands enemy love.

Why? Because that's what our Father is like.

God sends sun and rain on the righteous and unrighteous alike. Jesus describes enemy love as part of the family resemblance of God's children. And He never asks us to do something He wasn't willing to do Himself. Even while being crucified, Jesus prayed for the people responsible for putting Him there.

• Why enemy love isn't limited to tolerating difficult people
• How God's generosity toward the righteous and unrighteous reveals His character
