  • Falling in Love with Jesus: How to Celebrate in Ministry, with Robert Harris – EM187

Sometimes, when you’re in love, all you can do is tell others about this person who fills your heart with joy. For our guest, Robert Harris (a pen name), this is how he views ministry. After coming to know Christ and falling in love with Him, he had to share about what He did in his life. He is currently working with a ministry in Austin, Texas along with his wife.

Soon, the two of them will be moving to South Asia to train local church leaders in how to effectively share the Gospel. During our time together, Robert talked about the lessons he has learned through ministry and everyday life. As he prepares to enter this new culture, he and his wife are learning to trust the Lord and know that He is going with them.

  • Lord of the Harvest: How to be Faithful in Ministry, with Brett Butler – EM185

In the Bay area of San Francisco, nearly 93 percent of the population have no relationship with Christ. Such statistics might seem extremely disheartening or overwhelming. But our guest, Brett Butler shares on how God has given him a call to reach this group.

In the next five years, he's asking God to start 500 new churches – one for each zip code in the area.

During the show, Brett discusses the importance of abiding or resting in Jesus and how that plays out in his ministry. He also talks about his salvation story and how God gradually brought him to a relationship with Him. This episode is full of conviction, hope, and strength as we hear about God’s movement in the world. • Canada, Church Planting, How to Make the Good News Tangible in the World, with Matt Hess – EM180

There are important things to remember when working in ministry. Like that it is the Holy Spirit who draws people in, not good YouTube videos. Matthew Hess shares about the value of humility in church planting (and everyday life).

He is currently working to plant twelve churches in Toronto through The Fellowships Church Planting Network in the coming years. Matt grew up in Oklahoma, and while pastoring in Northwest Mississippi, felt the Lord calling him to reach those who had never heard the Gospel. God gave him three criteria: It had to be an unchurched community, very diverse, and a big area.

With that list, and a desire to remain humble and teachable, he has been able to abide in the Lord while sharing the Good News across Toronto.
