In Hebrews 11, Abel is called out as someone who gave a gift worth remembering.

Jacob's next up on our list. He was a founding fathers of the nation of Israel. The promise, or blessing, that God gave to Abraham was passed down to his son, Isaac, and then to his grandson, Jacob.

This week, we honored our volunteers for our Engedi Hearts Volunteers day. Engedi volunteers are the driving force behind what happens around here. This teaching recognizes the heart and compassion volunteers have to serve others. They are our heroes!

Our culture is filled with discord partially because insecurity prevents us from truly knowing people of different backgrounds than our own. This teaching will look at the kind of faith that reaches beyond cultural comfort zones.

Throughout the past few weeks we’ve studied what it looks like to live an unwasted life. We’ve explored paying attention to burdens, pushing through obstacles, and living out purpose in a way that honors others and God’s word. To wrap up, we’ll talk about how we can remain in a place of living out our purpose.

Through our study of Nehemiah we are talking about what it means to live an unwasted life—to know our lives matter. In this teaching we focus our attention on an essential element of living out our purpose that is too often overlooked.

Sometimes following our dreams becomes difficult. We face obstacles that threaten our obedience to God’s call. Similarly, as Nehemiah pursued God’s call, he faced both internal opposition and external risks. Together, we learn how to develop a spirit of perseverance that gets us through these roadblocks.
