ACEC member firm HDR is showcasing three projects that earned honors at this year's EEA Awards - one Grand Award and two Honor Award-winning projects - the Hugh Leatherman Terminal in Charleston, SC, the City of Billings Nutrient Upgrade, Expansion and Improvements project in Billings, MT, and the I-579 Open Space Cap in Pittsburgh, PA.

Congressman David Rouzer, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Water Resource and the Environment of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, joined us on the podcast. During the interview, Congressman Rouzer covered several hot topics facing the engineering industry, including WOTUS, the outlook on a new Water Resources Development Act reauthorization, IIJA implementation, and more.

We were joined on the program by Jason Pfaff, VP of Innovation for POWER Engineers to discuss the impact disruptive technologies like AI have on the engineering industry and how A/E firms can harness their power for new business opportunities.

Mike Piernicky, Olsson's Vice President for Transportation Programs and Government Affairs, joined the program to discuss the firm's growth and how management develops engineering talent.

Federal Agency Procurement Advocacy Committee Chair Jim Hoffman joined the program to discuss the new playbook for consulting firms that the committee is developing with the Army Corps of Engineers.

Ted Januszka, Vice President and Regional Transportation Principal at Pennoni, a nationwide ENR Top 500 engineering firm headquartered in Philadelphia, joined us on the podcast to discuss the firm's decision to open a Washington, DC office and provide advice for young professionals entering the engineering industry.

We were joined by Elizabeth Stolfus, President of Stolfus & Associates, Inc. in Colorado, to discuss her firm's adoption of the "Moving Forward Initiative," a program to connect the firm on a personal level to better deal with the myriad of pressing social issues facing America. The firm used MLK Day as a day of community service as a first step in the initiative. Elizabeth hopes to grow the project to better connect her employees to the community and foster a stronger bond between her employees and the end users of their work.

ACEC Welcomed Dr. Walter Kemmsies with The Kemmsies Group to discuss the current state of America's ports and intermodal markets.
