What Shook His Son’s Deer Blind? Bigfoot Encounter In this episode of #EnigmaCast, Joseph sits down with Ashley McPhaul, author of Lower Alabama Bigfoot: No Longer a Myth, to explore a series of alleged Bigfoot encounters centered around rural southern Alabama. Ashley traces his interest back through generations of local stories before recounting the experience that changed everything: his 12-year-old son Tristan was hunting alone when something began breaking limbs behind his deer blind, making a strange crunching sound, and then violently shaking the entire structure. Tristan fled on foot and says he looked back to see a massive, dark, hairy figure standing over the blind—tall enough for its head to rise above the roof. Ashley later found unusual tracks and broken limbs high above the ground along the creature’s reported path. That encounter was only the beginning. Ashley describes hearing an enormous scream in the woods powerful enough to vibrate through his chest, experiencing what Bigfoot researchers call a “bull rush,” finding animals with unusual injuries, and hearing similar reports from hunters who had never heard his own stories. The conversation also reaches into the history and folklore of Lower Alabama, including Burnt Corn, Pine Orchard, Native American mounds, and reports concentrated within only a few miles of one another. Joseph and Ashley question whether these accounts point toward an undiscovered flesh-and-blood creature, an unusually intelligent predator, or something that does not fit comfortably within conventional ideas about primates or wildlife. The mystery deepens when Ashley describes unexplained lights and orbs appearing in areas connected to other strange activity, including two blue lights moving together near a feeder and later red eyes seen high among the trees. He also recounts electronic equipment unexpectedly failing during a hog hunt while normally fearless dogs refused to enter a swamp. Ashley does not claim to know what these experiences mean, and Joseph connects them to similar reports involving Bigfoot, Sasquatch, unexplained orbs, and paranormal phenomena from other parts of North America. If the witnesses across Lower Alabama are describing something real, the question may no longer be whether Bigfoot exists—but what exactly are people encountering in these woods? Why Are Black Triangles Returning To The Skies? In this episode of #EnigmaCast, Joseph investigates the strange wave of UFO and UAP sightings reported around Wytheville, Virginia, in 1987, where law-enforcement officers, local residents, pilots, and radio personality Danny Gordon reportedly described enormous silent objects moving through the night sky. The reports included the now-famous black triangle UFO, along with boomerang-shaped, egg-shaped, disc-like, T-shaped, and other unusual craft. Over several months, hundreds of reports reportedly poured into the area, turning a quiet Appalachian community into the center of one of the more unusual mass UFO sighting stories Joseph has encountered. Joseph follows Gordon’s reported investigation as the sightings continued, including claims of massive low-flying objects, unusual lights, photographs and video, anonymous warnings, suspected surveillance, and mysterious visitors allegedly asking questions about the case. The episode also examines reports of glowing orbs appearing around some of the sightings—phenomena Joseph connects to other UFO, paranormal, and cryptid cases he has previously investigated. From Wytheville’s Appalachian terrain and cave systems to the possibility of secret military technology, Joseph weighs several explanations while emphasizing where the evidence becomes uncertain and where eyewitness claims remain difficult to verify. The mystery becomes even more relevant when Joseph turns to modern triangle UFO and UAP reports discussed in recently released records and asks whether the same type of craft described nearly forty years ago may still be appearing today. Joseph argues that some black triangles could represent advanced human technology while questioning whether every object reported during the Wytheville wave fits that explanation. Are these craft experimental military platforms, something operating alongside human technology, or part of a phenomenon that has been here far longer than we realize? The episode does not claim a definitive answer—but it raises the possibility that the skies over Wytheville may have revealed something we still do not fully understand. A Cop’s Theory on What Is Really Out There! In this episode of #EnigmaCast, Joseph sits down with Brandon Gayhart, creator of The Supernatural Sleuth and a law-enforcement professional with nearly 26 years of experience, to explore what decades of police work and paranormal investigation have led him to believe about ghosts, cryptids, and the strange activity reported throughout Appalachia. Brandon recounts hearing what sounded like a crowded party inside an empty college building, witnessing unexplained activity while working night shifts, and watching a close friend experience what he believes may have been spiritual oppression. For Brandon, those encounters changed the question from whether paranormal activity exists to what may actually be behind it. The conversation moves from haunted buildings and unexplained orbs into Bigfoot, Appalachian folklore, cryptids, caves, and the warnings passed down through generations in the Appalachian Mountains. Brandon explains why he remains open to the possibility of a flesh-and-blood Bigfoot while also questioning reports involving creatures that seem to disappear, move unnaturally, or appear alongside other unexplained phenomena. His theory is that some encounters attributed to ghosts or cryptids may instead involve deceptive spiritual entities—an interpretation shaped heavily by his Christian faith and his belief that witnesses should be cautious about assuming every paranormal presence is the spirit of someone who died. Brandon also discusses the dangers of paranormal investigation, alleged spiritual attachments, the instinctive sense of dread people sometimes experience in certain locations, and his visit to the abandoned Lake Shawnee Amusement Park in West Virginia. He closes by revisiting the encounter that began when he was only four years old: a strangely dressed man silently watching him from the staircase of his grandmother’s home. Whether these experiences are paranormal, psychological, biological, spiritual, or something we still do not understand, the episode asks a larger question—what if the different mysteries people report are not as separate as they appear? She Saw an 8-Foot Creature With Red Eyes in California! In this episode of #EnigmaCast, Joseph sits down with Taylor Thompson to revisit the terrifying encounter that was later featured on MonsterQuest. As a teenager living near Wrightwood, California, Taylor says she and several other kids were walking a remote mountain road one winter night when something came racing up the side of the mountain on all fours. According to her account, the figure then stood upright, revealing an estimated eight-and-a-half-foot-tall black humanoid form with unusually long arms, visible muscle definition, and glowing red eyes. Taylor describes an overwhelming sense of dread, the certainty that the creature meant them harm, and the frantic escape back to the Jeep. The conversation digs into what made the experience so difficult to explain. Taylor and the other witnesses were familiar with the local mountains, wildlife, bears, mountain lions, and the terrain itself, yet she says none of those explanations fit what they saw. Years later, people from Wrightwood reportedly contacted her with eerily similar stories involving a tall black figure with glowing eyes, and Taylor says producers researching her case also uncovered older reports connected to the area. Joseph and Taylor explore possible explanations ranging from an unknown animal to something paranormal, including Taylor’s own comparison to skinwalker stories, while also discussing the strange geography surrounding Wrightwood, nearby caves, military activity, and the unsettling atmosphere she still associates with the region. Taylor also explains how the encounter stayed with her long after that night, influencing her fear of being alone outdoors and eventually finding its way into her creative work. The episode expands into a wider discussion of cryptids, unexplained entities, the Superstition Mountains, strange lights, and the instinctive feeling witnesses sometimes describe when they believe they are being watched or hunted. Whatever Taylor and the others encountered that night, the central mystery remains unchanged: if six people saw the same impossible figure coming out of the darkness, what exactly was standing on that mountain road? In this explosive episode of EnigmaCast, we investigate one of the most pivotal and devastating events in ancient history — the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 A.D. What began as a Jewish revolt against Roman rule in 66 A.D. escalated into a full-scale military siege led by Titus and some of Rome’s most battle-hardened legions. Over the course of several brutal months, Jerusalem was surrounded, starved, divided by internal civil war, and ultimately reduced to rubble. Using the recorded accounts of Flavius Josephus and corroborating Roman historians, we trace the timeline of the siege, the collapse of the city walls, the burning of the Temple on the 9th of Av, and the aftermath that permanently altered Jewish history. But beyond the military campaign, we examine the deeper implications — the reported fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy in Matthew 24 and Luke 21, the psychological and theological shockwaves that followed, and why the destruction of the Temple still echoes in modern geopolitical and religious movements. From Mount Masada to the debate over a future Third Temple, this episode explores whether 70 A.D. was simply a Roman victory — or a prophetic turning point that continues to shape global events today.
