Today I'm going to talk about an experience that I had with nurse (lets call her "Nurse Phee Phee) that i've worked with for a while and I had an immediate visceral reaction. I wanted to instantly snap back and prove I'm smarter she was, but I also knew that a pissing contest like that wouldn't do anybody any good. As a premed, med student or even doctor, it can be a frustrating when someone doesn’t recognize your hard work. But letting your ego get in the way of patient care can hurt you, your coworkers and the patients you are trying to help! its important to know the strengths of the people that surround you, especially when their expertise may need to supersede yours! Sometimes the best leader is a good follower!

Diluted Hyponatremia
This was the cause of death for a woman who was in a radio contest entitled “Hold Your Wee For A Wii!” As a result of drinking too much water, there was a fatal shift in electrolytes in this woman’s body. Her blood became so dilute that vital organs could not get any of the needed electrolytes, resulting in organ shutdown and then organ failure.
