A few episodes back I had talked about an experience I had during my 3rd year of medical school that really changed my mindset while going through clinicals. This episode is going to expand on exactly what went through my mind while I was sitting on the subway and how the absolute worst increment of time during undergrad ended up getting through one of my toughest times in medical school.

Rough roads and difficult situations sometimes make you question if you have what it takes to climb that mountain that is ahead. But, regardless of how arduous the journey, experiences of confirmation can give you the push that you need to keep climbing. This is one of my stories and one of my experiences.

Snot, sutures and dirty diapers. Who in their right mind would sign up for such a thing?!?! Well...me! I did. Because I know that I am going to have to deal with little ones and their germs for the rest of my career, I decided to take a Peds EM elective so that I could be more comfortable dealing with them as patients. With 3 weeks already completed, I'll talk about some of the insights that I have gained, as well as some key pointers that I will be able to take with me in future rotations.

Zach is a medical student that is almost done with the journey to MD and he graciously took the time out of his busy schedule to talk about his 3rd year rotations and what he plans to do after graduating. He also talks about his favorite rotation so far and some of his adventures while going through a grueling surgery schedule. He also has a few good tips that may benefit premed students on their way to medical school. We hope to have Zach on again soon and he can share his experiences on the interview trail and how he enjoyed all of his electives during 4th year.

In my 2nd (or 3rd) semester of med school I was at a workshop that talked about time management and study skills. Being in school for as long as I have, I've heard most of general principles before, but there was one thing that afternoon that caught my attention. After going back to my study spot, I noticed that one of the biggest study pit-falls that I had fallen into because I didn't really think it was a big deal. Turns out I was wrong.
In this episode, I'm going to talk about the potential magnitude of picking up your phone "just for a minute" while studying and what those ripples can translate to when it comes time for finals.

I have finally made it to my 4th year of med school and I am loving every minute of it. Unfortunately, that wasn't always the case. There have been moments where I was worn thin and pushed to my limits. In this episode, I share an experience that completely changed my outlook on my clinical experience and it has made a world of difference.
In addition to talking about this experience, I was also fortunate to have an article that I wrote about it, published by LifeofaMedStudent.com. If you would like to read the article, you can find it here.
