In this reflection for the Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Fr. Erik Arnold encourages us to rejoice over the blessings and gifts that others have received.
Envy and jealousy are terrible and destructive things, especially when we’re envy over how generous the Lord is in giving gifts to other people. The virtue that overcomes envy is magnanimity, which allows us to rejoice when someone else is blessed, and to feel saddened when they hurt. The Lord wants us to rejoice in his generosity. Let’s ask the Lord to heal our hearts of any envy, and help us to rejoice and be happy when he pours out his gifts to everyone who knows Him.
