Enkindle: Family Scripture Reflections

Enkindle 95 – 02.27.22 – New Hearts

Listen Later

In this reflection for the Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time 2022, Fr. Erik Arnold encourages us to bring the wounded parts of our hearts that come out during times of stress and tribulation to him, to ask for healing so that we may bear good fruit in our lives.

Jesus tells us that whatever is on the inside is going to come out. Whatever is deep in our heart will eventually come out. It’s like a tree: it may look healthy but you eventually know for sure when it produces fruit. If a tree is really healthy it’s going to produce good fruit.

So when things come out of our hearts that we don’t like, things that aren’t loving toward God and neighbor–bring that to Jesus and ask him to heal those parts of your heart. Don’t ignore them. Don’t get discouraged by them. Just keep bringing them to Jesus so he can heal you.
