Jesus forever transformed the meaning of power; he called it ‘service’.

Jesus entered his passion without fear, and with full control, laying down his life willingly, because his will was one with the Father’s.

Jesus wasn’t just handing Judas a piece of bread, he was handing himself, if only to remind him perhaps, one last time, of their friendship.

The tragedy of Herod is that he still had a sliver of goodness in him, this is what drew him to John. But since he neither fed nor nurtured it, it was overwhelmed by darkness.

The admonition to “enter through the narrow gate” is an invitation to see life’s challenges and hurdles as instruments God uses to build us up , strengthen us, and make us more resilient.

Jesus condemned, not wealth, but what it often does: making us forget our utter dependence on God.
