According to the most recent data by the Census Bureau “Almost two-thirds (65 percent) of children, lived in households that participated in at least one or more of the following government aid programs: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Medicaid, and the National School Lunch Program.”
So when the proposed fiscal government budget aims to cut important health and welfare programs that a majority of children in the US rely on, citizens and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle fought back.
On the program today, Thomas Huelskoetter, Policy Analyst for the Health Policy team at the Center for American Progress. His recent piece focuses on the major changes within the fiscal budget and how these proposed changes will impact families.
