Grace Marilize Oosthuizen:
Considering herself a true student of life she has attained multiple diplomas in various fields- from chemistry to ministry, and everything in between.
A real night-owl, when she is not working on cannabis, she loves reading research papers, looking at the stars, and spending time with other people's children and animals. - Extract from my author bio.
I'm a 28 year old fempreneur from a small farm town in South Africa, currently living in Johannesburg.
I was born in the city, but we moved to the country when I went to high school, so I definitely got the best of both! I am super family oriented, and I'm the 2nd youngest of 8 siblings.
School was always my safe haven (home not always so) and I absolutely love love love learning. I've studied a lot and will continue to do so.
I love traveling and au paired in the USA after high school - consider myself a bit of a gypsy, I didn't want to settle in one place and moved around a lot.
Always focused on academics and travel, I never thought I would be an entrepreneur at all. Until I saw an opportunity one night while working as a bartender in 2019, to broker a deal with a European for a local product - everything changed! I got scammed that first deal, but still managed to somewhat salvage the situation and turn a profit. I had my first taste of real money - earned by me. I started another business almost immediately - turning cannabis waste into profitable products (cannabis was just decriminalized back then for industry and personal use), it went great, I got in on government hemp projects, I was making sales in the private sector. Then Covid hit, I couldn't export anymore under lock down restrictions, and things took a plummet really quickly.
I had to move in with my parent again - rock bottom. My health went out the window too.
I was working minimum wage at the school where I used to be valedictorian not great.
I dug in deep, being really spiritual I sat with God and just went inside. I decided that this would be my stepping stone, rolled up my sleeves and got to work.
I started the hair accessory business with my mom and 2 sisters, I focused on coaching ans giving away, I wrote my book Crafting Cannabis by hand - The ultimate guide, with hand methods to replace almost all mechanised industrial methods (for accessability for developing economies), and I found a new product to broker for export.
Since then I've been featured in my 2nd book - Ripples of Grace, compiled by Carol Azams. I've also managed to grow my brokering into a full multiple product import, export business.
Bios are always really hard for me. Life has not always been kind. I come from a lot of struggle, a hard background, severe depression - and for me every small thing - like getting dressed up, or not slacking on chores is an accomplishment
